Where are you getting 1000 from? I get roughly 600 with the majority of new cases still from China.

I'm looking at:
Look at the Other Locations on the bottom of the graph, and ignore the last day which is usually incorrect on this graph (due to when researchers are updating it).
So for example:
02/25 = 2.8k infections
02/26 = 3.3k (+500)
02/27 = 4.3k (+1k)
Statistics published from countries outside of China are showing a disturbing trend in fatality rates.
The oft quoted 2% is looking to be far too low. From many perspectives the number appears fine if you just compare the total cases and total deaths, but you have to consider the time delay between diagnosis and peak of symptoms/death. This delay is likely around a week.
Therefore if we look at Italy and their 400 confirmed cases with 12 deaths, the mortality rate isn't 3%, but triples to 9%.
Likewise with South Korea, taking today's numbers gives a low mortality rate, but taking numbers from five days ago gives a mortality equivalent to SARS
partially based on AIDS.
Because it can land you in hot water. So why was my reference to this post deleted?
We live in a time where the truth often gets bullied out of relevancy. The sheeple want their easy answers and they are terrified of the thought of someone actually doing dark cloak and dagger things..... of course it requires investigation but it's never gonna happen publicly because the danger of it actually being true is too scary for the general public to want to admit. It warrants more scientific investigation rather than outright denial in my opinion, especially in light of the reports of using ARVs to treat it.

Immunogenicity of the spike glycoprotein of Bat SARS-like coronavirus - Virologica Sinica
A group of SARS-like coronaviruses (SL-CoV) have been identified in horseshoe bats. Despite SL-CoVs and SARS-CoV share identical genome structure and high-level sequence similarity, SL-CoV does not bind to the same cellular receptor as for SARS-CoV and the N-terminus of the S proteins only share...link.springer.com

Iran has no intention of closing its borders or going into quarantine. Their economy is a mess as it is without any further isolation.A Russian tourist travelling from Iran.
South Africa initially followed Chinese government advice to avoid repatriation but has changed its policy “after due consideration of the circumstances, and following several requests from the families of South Africans in the city,” according to the South African presidency. South Africa’s Mail and Guardian newspaper has reported that returnees may be taken to a remote area of the country’s Free State province for the quarantine.
The Finacial Times is reporting that South African returnees from Wuhan will be taken to a 'remote part of the Free State'. So far away from civilisation as possible.
