I think it makes sense to cancel any large events until we have more information on how to deal with this, even if it is just something like over hyped flu, precautions are still a good idea

Vitamin D supplementation only really provides benefit if you're deficient. If you live somewhere sunny that's fairly unlikely unless you never go outside with exposed skin. The gains for those who aren't deficient probably make no practical difference.

He's referring to people who live up here in Europe. We don't see the sun all that much in England, so are deficient by default.

There are recipes for surgical spirits and aloe vera on the net. The aloe vera stops your hands from drying out. Another big thing is to get rations right to keep it above 60% alcohol and not contaminate it. So read a lot before attempting.
