The wow part is that it got sold for $2.2bn. They would have done their due diligence but I did not think that Novell's assets were worth $2.2 billion. Anyway, it is sad in a way, I was a CNE but that was in the late 90's

So they got Wordperfect and some Linux (Suse). I don't think that's a healthy situation for software.

You forgot about their Identity and Access management products - they probably bring in even more money than their Suse products.

I was looking more at the competitive consequences. One less Office rival and a finger in the LINUX pie is cause for concern. We know how MS operates.

so now the suse logo will change to a chameleon eating a ms butterfly?

In this case, wont that have to be the other way around? Novell made its mark in the 90s and ever since most of their products worsened and seemed like they didnt wan do nothing about it.

Novell is actually pretty popular in big industry and with government institutions.
