So it's Saturday night, it's cold and raining, and you need a good dvd to kill the hours. After grumbling that the video (dvd) store doesn't have most of their dvds in stock, you pick Bolt. Good choice. After watching the first 3 chapters, the movie suddenly jumps to the last chapter and your blood almost boils. As your slowly decompress while on your way back from the store with a different (less scratched) disk, the same thing happens.
The store manager asks, upon your 3rd entry into his store, if you're watching it on a dvd player. It seems that NEW Nu Metro dvds can only be watched on DVD players.
I'm a programmer, so I have a decent PC and a 22"wide screen. I do not own a TV nor a DVD player. This is, if nothing else, way over the boundary. I do understand that they need to make DVDs "Pirateproof", but now the paying customers (legal) can't even watch it! Just to note, I have 2 brilliant software packages that should remove the DVD's extra software (Piracy stuff) and they couldn't even make a dent. (Just for note, I make LEGAL copies of my own dvds and keep the original locked up safe. That's why I have the software).
As we're in africa, pointing out to Nu Metro that they're being ridiculous and have overstepped a few legal grounds, will be pointless.
Instead, what software can get around this? It will need to be new and confirmed that it can view Bolt and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
P.S.
+1 for PCs.
The DVDs won't work on Consoles either. But on a PC, there's ways around it.
