Family of co-accused in dog poo case says she was also a victim

Cape Town - Cops have nabbed the two suspected accomplices of a nurse who fed her boyfriend’s alleged mistress dog poo.

The women will appear in the Goodwood Magistrate's Court on Wednesday as cops believe they were paid to lure Ivodene “Dienkie” van Niekerk, 28, who was forced to eat the dog poo and was allegedly beaten with a knobkierie and dog chain.

However, the family of one of the suspects, identified only as Portia, say she too is a victim of Elizabeth “Mimmie” Williams and was choked with a dog chain after she was also accused of having sex with Williams’s boyfriend, Jubie.

The angry relatives arrived at the court on Tuesday waiting for Portia to appear in the dock but were informed the matter had been postponed to Wednesday.

In a video which has gone viral video, Williams hurled abuse at Van Niekerk and forced her to eat the dog poo from a plastic bag. She is also heard making reference to Portia.



“Maak klaar, ek wil by Portia uitkom!” (Get done, I want to get to Portia!) Williams shouted at Van Niekerk as another woman is heard telling her where to find Portia.

Williams, 38, was arrested for assault and appeared in court last Thursday.

Speaking to the Daily Voice on Tuesday, Portia’s 60-year-old granny said she didn’t lure Van Niekerk under the false pretences of wanting her hair and nails done, as there really was a wedding.

Elizabeth "Mimmie" William's and her two co-accused, Portia Jonkers and Princess Gopi, are before Magistrate Bukiwe Sambudla for their bail application.
Detective Constable George Sylvester told the court on the day she was arrested that Mimmie was found in possession of a surgical blade and told cops she was suicidal.
Mimmie, who was a nurse at Tygerberg Hospital, has resigned from her job.

A Tygerberg Hospital theatre nurse accused of forcing a woman to eat dog faeces also allegedly threatened to set dogs on her to bite her vagina, the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court heard on Wednesday.
Constable Craig Sylvester told the court Elizabeth Williams – who is appearing with two other people on charges of kidnapping, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and intimidation following the incident on July 26 – should not be granted bail.
Questioned by prosecutor Laurentia Morkel, Sylvester recounted what the complainant, Ivodene van Niekerk, had told him about the bizarre sequence of events after Williams had accused her of sleeping with her boyfriend, “Jubie”.
He claimed the two other accused – Princess Gopie and Porchia Jonkers – had lured Van Niekerk to Williams’ house on the pretext that Williams wanted her nails done.

Van Niekerk is a nail technician.
However, Van Niekerk said she felt scared when she arrived at the house, but was “hugged” by Williams before entering it.

A nurse accused of kidnapping her boyfriend's alleged mistress and ordering her to eat dog faeces tried, unsuccessfully, to quit her job afterwards at a hospital in Cape Town.

This emerged during the bail hearing of Elizabeth Williams, 38, at the Goodwood magistrate's court on Wednesday.

The incident on July 26 prompted an outcry after a video of the 27-year-old victim, purportedly being forced to eat faeces from a packet, was shared online.

The Cape Town nurse accused of making another woman eat dog poo has been granted bail but will be under house arrest until a verdict in her case is reached, the Goodwood Magistrate's Court ruled on Monday.
Magistrate Bukiwa Sambudla said Elizabeth Williams faced a Schedule 1 offence, so the onus fell on the State to show why she should not be released on bail.
Sambudla added regardless of the gravity of the alleged offence, the information presented by the prosecutor and investigating officer was not enough to say with certainty she would flee or interfere with witnesses.
"The court believes that there is no reason why this court should not grant bail to the accused with strict bail conditions," she said.
"Thank you God," said some of the people in the public gallery.
Bail was set at R5 000 and Williams will be under house arrest at an address in Elsie's River.
She has to return to court on September 25.

. The Cape Town nurse alleged to have kidnapped and forced her boyfriend's mistress to eat dog faeces will hear on Thursday whether her bail conditions will be relaxed to allow her to return to work.

Accused in dog poo case looks for work as nursing council launches probe

Cape Town - The nurse accused of torturing her boyfriend’s mistress by feeding her dog poo will now also be investigated by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).


While Elizabeth “Mimmie” Williams, 38, has officially resigned from Tygerberg Hospital and is free to look for a new job, she is not off the hook yet.


The former theatre nurse made headlines after she took videos of herself allegedly forcing Ivodene “Dienkie” van Niekerk, 28, to eat a bag of dog poo for sleeping with her boyfriend, Jubie.


During the incident on 26 July, she also allegedly fed Dienkie abortion tablets, drew her blood without consent and tested her for HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI).


Mimmie, along with her co-accused Princess Gopie, Porchia Jonkers, Amber Booysen and Desmond Alexander, were arrested after the videos went viral on social media.

The group returned to Goodwood Magistrates’ Court on Monday where Mimmie’s application to have her bail conditions relaxed, so she can go back to work, was granted.
