It's the same price as a ps4 so it falls in line with that pricing.

Well $400 is about R6.2k or so, add taxes and import at ~40% and you're looking at R9k. None of these cards will trade at MSRP for a while, manufacturers were also complaining about the MSRP being too low, wonder whether they managed to increase it.

Exactly at current rates the cheaper cards should be 9K to slightly under 9K

I think it's safe to say that legit retailers are now the scalpers, that it bullshit.

Was hoping to skip PS5/Xbox this time around and go PC again, but damn, these prices are rough. I have a decent laptop for everything else, so for pure gaming it gets expensive.

Nope, I do not know how a normal gamer is going to afford that if he or she wants to upgrade?

These prices are crazy expensive for a piece of hardware that is about the size of a brick?! These Wholesalers better buy a whole lot of feather dusters because the dust is going to be thick on these and will require regular dusting...

Thanks but no thanks...

There's a second hand market.
These new cards are good in terms of price/performance compared to 2000 series, but they're still too high priced because the 2000 series was one of the worst improvements price/performance ever.

Just wait a bit and a 3060 or 3050 Ti equivalent should come out soon/early next year, that should be more along the lines of R4-6k in South Africa if rand doesn't mess up.

Pricing doesn't really matter if there is virtually no stock of any new series cards at any pricing point readily available currently...

So I was paying around R4000 when the RX480 came out, then I bought a RTX 2060 Super for R7000 and now a card in the same bracket is selling at R10k. So it seems like the next generation of entry-level midrange cards is going to cost R13k then.

Similar. I only have a 1070 because a miner bought my RX480 Red Devil off me for 5 grand. 3 years later and I can't swallow the cost of a decent upgrade.
