Nvidia overtakes Apple after hitting R57 trillion market cap

Nvidia was already the world’s most valuable semiconductor firm. Now, it’s become the first computer-chip company ever to hit $3 trillion (R56 trillion) in market capitalization.

The shares of the Santa Clara, California-based firm have rallied roughly 147% this year, adding about $1.8 trillion (R34 trillion) as the insatiable demand for its chips used to power artificial intelligence tasks skyrockets.

Nvidia is on fire. Anyone who pushed tons of money into them pre COVID is smiling all the way to the bank...

Just a few percent off being the largest market cap behind Microsoft, insane... They better deliver to earn that 300x PE otherwise a lot of paper wealth going to disappear...

Funny to think that one company is worth more than the entire SA economy.

All abroad the AI hype train
View attachment 1722025
AI isn't hype anymore. Machine learning is on a massive up curve. Compute related productivity is growing. It is not a trend anymore, we are moving beyond digital adoption.

Blockchain hype, well, schit. Even AI related blockchain things can't get traction NFTs died. This is what happena when the market values gains above utility.

I am not in the mind that everything now needs a AI button, but it is silly to attach a premium to what was previously known as computing. Intel, AMD and Nvidia, all made it clear, that AI is the game.

@backstreetboy hasn't been given the command yet.

We agreed that Tim is going to allow him to like AI in September 2024 - and then he'll be happy
You mean since November 2017?
Since its debut in 2017, Apple has not only dramatically improved the performance and efficiency of its Neural Engine in silicon, but also released a series of new functions. This includes, for example, recognizing elements in text, images, photos, and other context in a new software framework called Core ML.

This all allowed third party developers to also make use of the increasingly powerful and power efficient Neural Engine in Apple's iPhone and iPad chips.

Apple's first Neural Engine used two cores on a 10nm silicon process to deliver 600 billion operations per second.

@backstreetboy or maybe I’m misunderstanding and it’s got nothing to do with AI.

The guys on the Mac forums love boasting about that Apple (that doesn’t belong to them) is the most valuable company in the world. Although he’s a bizarre flex, it’s become one of their core phrases. Could the real issue for you be that they’re not the most valuable company anymore?

I’ve noticed the Mac forums also going mental because another company is now now valuable.
