Nvidia unveils GeForce RTX 3060 – Specifications and pricing

Nvidia has launched its latest RTX 30-series graphics card – the GeForce RTX 3060 – during CES 2021.

In its announcement, Nvidia said the GeForce RTX 3060 is the perfect upgrade for gamers who are still using the older GeForce GTX 1060 GPU.

“The venerable GeForce GTX 1060 is the most popular graphics card on Steam, having offered users years of high quality 1080p gaming,” Nvidia said.

Which 1060? The 3Gb model wouldn't really give years of 1080p high quality gaming, the 6GB would maybe give a year or 2 and then you'd need to start dropping quality.

Should probably be able to be it for around R 7000 - R 7500 from Amazon

329$ = R 5000 + R 500 (shipping)

R 5500 x 1.1 x 1.15 = R 7000

Correct the 1.15 is the vat and the 1.1 is duties / customs value mark-up

Considering the card will be too weak to use for RT you're better off finding a 1080ti/2070 on the used market.

Buying another person problems. Besides have you seen the prices of second hand cards. Best just buy a brand new card with warranty.

$329?

The 1060 6GB launched at $250, was available & could be found for cheaper.

I don't think that is too far off but I suspect closer to R8000 from local suppliers seeing as the 3060Ti can be had for around R10k. Guess it depends how close in performance these are.
