So the last couple days NVIDIA has been counting down the years of GeForce graphics cards on social media, from 1999 to 2020 with the countdown culminating with a GeForce Special Event featuring CEO Jensen Huang highlighting the company's "latest innovations in gaming and graphics" along with "And what comes next" on the 1st of September at 6pm South African time.

Super interested to see what NVIDIA brings to the table with Ampere. The current Turing RTX 2000 series had decent performance but were heavily focused on RTX and other technology like DLSS which have both improved over time and have now matured into something worth using often.
The rumours are swirling about a decent performance lift in gaming (especially RTX gaming) and more VRAM than usual, so I'll be looking forward to seeing what Jensen has in store for us, along with pricing and release date.
My 1080Ti needs an upgrade to keep up at 1440p/144Hz so now it's just a waiting game.
