The reason why we won't hear this from a Cell C Rep, is outlined in the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 - A service provider cannot discriminate in any way, form or manner against any South African. If they have towers in the area, and offer a service countrywide they must provide the means to access it for all South Africans.

Very very simple.

Agreed, all of Telkom intercity links were once carried on the Microwave link replacing copper cable, it is near "unlimited" in carrying capacity. I don't know of how they could be skimping either, as telecommunication industry carrying capacity for modern digital technology for microwave transmission today is well over 10 million connected devices.

So, is this another thumb suck internal memo excuse issued by Cell C Executive Management thought to appease the masses?

Whut? now that's a load of bollocks if I ever heard it.

Not being able to deliver a service is not discrimination.

I've been in touch with the networks guys again, and the explanation of the microwave link issues makes sense(to me at least). There are plans afoot to alleviate the congestion, roll-out of fibre optics is closing in on Brackenfell central, they are busy in Vredekloof... so I'll give them another 2 weeks before throughing all the toys of the cot! It seems that certain other 3G providers are blocking them, making the roll-out more difficult and time consuming! They did visit my location and are working on a plan to better the situation, only if it doesn't negatively impact other users! I'm happy with that!

Thank you CellC techie(you know who you are) for the honest direct answer!

"Not being able to provide the means to access it in towns that have Cell C masts, IS discrimination" - ie: People living in Jo'burg can buy Modem Dongles and Whoosh! where other people outside Jo'burg cannot buy Modem Dongles & Whooosh! = Discrimination.

In my area, ALL Modem Dongles have been recalled from the ALL the shops, (that's a whole lot of towns along 200km's coast), as far to many people have returned the Dongles because of Cell C's failure to deliver as promised.

Strange then that you are posting from a Cell C IP, don't you think?

I think you're wrong - just because Jhb has something, doesnt mean the whole country has to have it - think electricity, telephone lines, water.... Having 100% coverage of everything just does not make sense - no law could enforce that

Agreed. As long as their coverage maps are quite accurate and it was not sold under false pretences then he has no recourse.

Okay, This is going off topic, but allow me to defend myself... (Ya guys all ****... just saying)

Look, oh Humble Moderator... there is "The Interception of Digital Communications & Privacy Act" in place, which kinda prevents you from looking up an IP address of a user/member, without a court order. Even if you are a moderator... (How would you like it if Facebook & Twitter & Google published your IP Address for all the world to see. Or better yet, all of your Banking Details & Credit Card Transactions, just because they don't agree with what you said.)

Second, Cell C recalled the Dongles from the SHOPS, not from those who have purchased them, and yes, I am a Cell C Client, and an MTN Client, and a Vodacom Client, and an 8ta Client, and an iBurst Client, and an VentureNET Client, and an Internet Solutions Client.

And yes, at this moment in time, I am linking through the Cell C IP to do my Web Business, but I'm not located at the IP Address Location, as I'm using an Intranet Connection.

And all of you guys have hi-jacked this thread to lodge an attack on me. Why? Coz all of you "Grandmasters" have had a look at the "few" postings I have made.

I have been a Myboardband member since 2004 but lost all my Passwords / user ID's when I had a Home Invasion, and was almost killed in the process, others of my friends were not so fortunate.

I recently created this Profile, ahead of the enforcement of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, and began posting when the Act came into effect, as I knew then that my Human & Civil Rights as enshrined in the Constitution of South Africa, and The Bill of Rights, now carry protection from Cell C and their Representatives.

It is my right to impart my knowledge and experience on this Forum to assist others in gaining redress from Cell C. Our consumer rights are now fully protected by this Act.

This Act equally applies to mybroadband.co.za as it is a South African Service Provider, as the domain is registered in South Africa, and the Administrators of this Forum, are now held accountable for upholding the Rights of Civilians (Members) of this Country.

The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, has increased the Moderators/Administrators Responsibilities, in which you are to hold the Mobile & Broadband Service Providers to account.

I'm sorry if I offend all those long time members, but I am duty bound to inform yourselves of this.

My sincere apologies.
