Hi guys,

We currently have a office 365 account that was set up in Hungary long before it was available in South Africa. Now we want to move it to South Africa because of billing reasons. I have contacted Microsoft who say they can't do this.

Does anyone know how to export mailboxes from O365 and import them into the new O365 tenant set up in South Africa?

In Outlook, connect to both accounts (I daily use three O365 mail accounts) and simply drag and drop between mailboxes/folders as required.

Otherwise export the desired folders (will create pst file/s), open in Outlook, and then copy to new folders.

They are talking bull. They can definitely do it, and it might just be your service level with them that "prevents" them from doing this.

In any case, here's a link outlining the activities you will need to complete in order to migrate from one tenant to another:

As outlined in the article, it will serve you well working with a partner to get this done. Guys like BUI and AVeS will be my first choice if I had to get this done.

Thanks everyone, I have 35 mailboxes to export but most of them really aren't too big (biggest being 6GB) so was thinking the pst export from the O365 admin centre would be the best option. I like the idea of doing the import and export on the two accounts in Outlook itself but unfortunately many of the users simply use the web and don't have outlook installed.

Bit concerned that Microsoft would assist me with this but anyway really appreciate the help.

Does anyone know how to determine which users are using OneDrive? Basically just a list of users that have stored something on OneDrive.

Just remember there are two OneDrives:

1. "Consumer" OneDrive - the one you get with your ordinary Microsoft Account (MSA)

2. "Business" OneDrive - the one you get with business/school subscriptions to Office 365. It's really a front-end to SharePoint.

Your Office 365 Admin Account will show you which users have the business one.

To be fair I once did an O365 to O365 migration and it felt like it took 8 years.
Also I tired to ask providers to assist with Tentant to Tentant, they said no.

So was manual migration, but biggest issue to me was one mail box was made up of mainly folders, and I learnt that you can't transfer Outlook folders to IMAP so landed up moving to another O365 rather than an IMAP providers as originally planned, due to folders.

You're responding to an 8 year old post.

Manual Office 365 tenant-to-tenant migration is a detailed process that requires careful preparation and execution. It involves transferring emails, calendars, contacts, OneDrive files, SharePoint sites, and Teams data using native tools like PowerShell. Key steps include configuring the source and target tenants, managing user permissions, updating DNS records, and validating data after migration. Proper testing and communication with users are essential to minimize disruptions. For a complete step-by-step guide, check out office365solutions.org
