Called me&you mobile to cancel my contract this morning, after having taken out a Telkom Mobile contract yesterday.

me&you have told me before I port to another network, they will first have to port my number to a Cell C prepaid sim (which can be done tomorrow), after which I will have to wait 30 days before porting to Telkom Mobile. This means I'm going to be paying for my me&you contract for November, as well as my Telkom Mobile contract for November, AND have to now buy airtime/bundles on Cell C prepaid for 30 days?! The whole thing sounds ridiculous!

Has anyone found a way around this or got any advice on how I could port straight from me&you to Telkom? Just to clarify the issue isn't that me&you can't release my number immediately, but rather that I have to port to Cell C directly before I can port to Telkom Mobile.

If you port from one network to another, you then have to wait 30 days before you can do another port. That is what is happening.

By law you are allowed to port from a post paid account on the condition it is not suspended for arrears. You must insist on this. Tell them that you are going to report them to ICASA (which is very easy, just fill in the word doc and email it off).
