Hi there

Since the iBurst modem is on a remote site, and the dyndns.org application and windows2003 doesn't work together properly, is there any other way with which I can obtain the public IP of a certain iBurst account without having anybody check on the remote site's PC?

Couple of suggestions - but they all involve a cash outlay...

* Get a router that can support DynDNS properly and then forward all the ports to the internal machine.

* Request a fixed IP from iBurst. They will charge you just under R200 pm and assign a fixed IP to your UTx.

But surely there must be some Dynamic DNS service that supports win 2k3?? DynDNS is not the only one you know :)

I use www.no-ip.com

You get a free account and you can pick up to 5 domains in a nice list of subdomains. The no-ip software runs as a service on the target machine and every time the iburst ip changes they update it on www.no-ip.com.

Now from the other end you can ping whatever.no-ip.com and find your iburst pc. You can remote desktop/ftp/telnet/http/anything to it depending on what you installed.

I have been using www.no-ip.com for over a year and no spam.

A really great service.
