Leftists: We need the police to keep people safe, you are not responsible for your own safety.
Also leftists: Why are the police arresting us for standing in the traffic?

Here's a part of the 1st amendment you should probably be aware of:
You missed the progressive amendment to it.

or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. This provision doesn't apply to people who bake cakes.

Conservatives: Let's make it so that folks can get away with murdering abortion doctors, and let's make damn sure we can execute any women who manages to get an abortion anyway.

"Literally no hyperbole", proceeds with hyperbole...
Not really, that's a standard clause for protecting the life of any individual. The ONLY thing they did was extent the definition of the individual.

Guess abortionist would need to flee to practise their "craft"?

Anyway, why do you try and derail threads to these topics of yours? There's already another thread where you can post this

Akiva is a US lawyer, but let's all defer to your superior legal expertise in this instance, Kieppie.

Tx. There are millions of US lawyers and there are millions of opinions, but sure pick the interpretation that suits your ideals. Guess I should start trusting Ben Shapiro more?

Still you're derailing the thread...

This is exactly what y'all wanted all along, Kieppie.

Ridiculous clutching your pearls and shooing me away 'cos you're sensitive that the rest of us think you're ghouls because of it.

This thread?
It's about her arrest, not some separate tangential state decision which she isn't even aware of. You did the same with Ivana's death.

Sure sure...

Nah you're free to bitch and moan to your hearts content. Just go make another thread about it instead.
Or post it in the US politics thread like you used to :p

Yeah, I wouldn't take this guy's opinion on self defence to be very meaningful.

Self defence was very easy to prove in Rittenhouse's case. His assailant testified that he pointed a gun at Rittenhouse. You know, after Rittenhouse was attacked with a skateboard.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-59216106

There is a very big "if necessary" clause in that text. Which means that if some shot and killed a pregnant woman because they thought she was "getting an abortion", they would have to prove that it was "necessary" to do it. Which probably means they need to show that there was nothing else they could do to stop it, and even then there is a contradiction there because if their actions kill the foetus anyway, they are still liable for murder.

Since @greg0205 values lawyers opinions so much and since it's also tangential to this thread...

Please, please, please folks, look over here, and only over here, and absolutely, positively don't look at any posts that might explain why Dems were protesting outside the SC yesterday.

Reasons for that abortion rights protest aren't important.

What's important are our whataboutism and deflection... and that you don't think we're monsters for backing these anti-abortion laws 100%.

Sure sure Greggy...

I don't even think this thread itself should exist as it's not really that important except for laughing at the attention seeking of AOC et al.
It should actually just be in the general US politics thread.

What's important are our whataboutism and deflection... and that you don't think we're monsters for backing these anti-abortion laws 100%.
Monsters are in the eye of the beholder it seems. Fact of the matter is states should decided. You can ree and raw all you want, but that won't change.
Just like the fact of people using this for their political advantage don't actually care about the issue at all.

You cited a questionable legal opinion to back up your claims, now you are complaining about whataboutism and deflectism when I try to address the issue.

The reasons why Democrats are protesting outside the SC is because their entire ideology is centered around being a victim of oppression. Why do you think AOC was so happy to be arrested that she pretended like she was wearing handcuffs? The actual cause of the protest is because progressives believe it is the highest form of oppression possible to not be allowed to murder a person who is a minor inconvenience to you in every state in the US.

Wish we had leaders like this in the opposition party in SA.
You have them in SA. They are in the ANC and EFF.

Every single policy you like in the Democrats, you can find in the ANC.
BEE
Affirmative action.
Nationalised healthcare.
Gun control.
State owned power companies.
