Already tried this on WS. There was no change between PPPoE and static IP.
Odd that some technician thought there would be in the first place, not sure on what technical basis that was based on :crying:

The issue is on the OLT or ODN, my guess, with minimal info, the latter - someone needs to find out what their receive optical level is at their ONT to rule out the ODN - it's expressed in dB and should be in the -20's

Up again from 06:30, with two drops since then for less than a minute.

Zero explanation from Octotel for the 13 hour blackout.

Feedback on my ticket from Cool Ideas is that Octotel reset the OTL (no idea what this is) and made some fixes yesterday. So far (holding thumbs) I haven't had the random disconnect issue that has been troubling me for so long.

Don't worry I'm sure they've got another ONT with your name on it :)

Octotel just called. Sending technicians out to my place tomorrow morning to "sort out" my line.

In Claremont, been having random timeouts, outages and congestion for the last +/- 2 months and about 3 to 5 times a day.
2nd and third hop.
I have been recording the timeouts every other.

It got way worse after that big outage a little while ago for Claremont/Kenilworth/Rondebosch, what they may not have mentioned is that they trenched and added on an entire new area and likely did not compensate for the capacity... I have a few clients that were just recently added to the Octotel network further downstream from Claremont/Kenilworth/Rondebosch...

How're you recording these timeout?

I'm in Claremont - also seeing disconnects but they seem to happen most often in the morning.

Sounds promising. Did you ever find out what a mid-point coupler is?

It's just a simple fibre coupler, connects two LC connectors together.
-Incoming drop fibre comes into a splice box, that fibre then gets spliced onto a pigtail (yellow) - pigtail then gets plugged into the mid-coupler (Green)
- Fibre patch lead then plugs into the other side of the mid-coupler and up to your ONT
