In Claremont, been having random timeouts, outages and congestion for the last +/- 2 months and about 3 to 5 times a day.
2nd and third hop.
I have been recording the timeouts every other.

It got way worse after that big outage a little while ago for Claremont/Kenilworth/Rondebosch, what they may not have mentioned is that they trenched and added on an entire new area and likely did not compensate for the capacity... I have a few clients that were just recently added to the Octotel network further downstream from Claremont/Kenilworth/Rondebosch...
That's typical Octofail for you.
My child's school is in Parklands.. also on Octofail... and they're also experiencing disconnects during class.

Next time Octotel pulls in to change your ONT :) ask them what your optical signal level is as per my previous posts. Insist that Octotel check this, it should be standard for an FNO to check this - then post it here. @TheRoDent post shows you like 10km away from the OLT and that the OLT has reported loss of signal - 10Km is far enough for bad splices, bad repairs, dirty connectors, bent cables to play a role if there is not enough design margin in the distribution network.

Octotel have now moved me to another point on the network. This particular technician seemed very confident that "He wont be hearing from me again".

I sincerely hope he's right.

WTF is "another point on the network"?

Apparently it's a node where multiple lines converge

Are you in a house or a complex? Hundred bucks says they left everyone else connected to the previous faulty node exactly where they were.

Hope this has some effect for you.

Probably another splitter, hopefully on a different PON port too

Is there any ETA on Octotel sorting this out, it is really bad, also why are the ISP's not putting more pressure making clients complain etc, they should be putting pressure on getting sorted...

We are investigating degraded services in CPT on Octotel, Frogfoot and Vuma Reach.

Thank the Lord! I thought it was only me! I'm both happy and extremely disappointed to see it is a much more widespread issue.

I'm on OctoTel/Cool Ideas and live in the Kenilworth area.

I have been having regular disconnections for the past month or more. Exactly the same as reported above. I restart my router and it will reconnect, but sometimes 5 minutes or so later, it will again disconnect, and the dance repeats itself.
I logged a ticket with Cool Ideas, got a speedy response, upgraded the firmware of my router with the help of the technician, but the problem continues.
I thought it might be related to my router, and was in the process of upgrading it (which I still will do), but CLEARLY, it isn't a router issue.

Welcome to the suck fellow Kenilworth resident.

Your best chance is to harass Octotel directly via social media and their phone line. It's was the only way I got anyone to pay attention to me there.
