And I get the impression they think they are offering us a great service.

Imagine all the kids going to mommy and daddy and asking them to pay R700 so they can play WoW or somesuch every month.... not very likely.

ROFL!!! The high cost of internet is good. It keeps us away from evil things like complete and open access to mind alterings and inspiring ideas! Ivy needs hoards of good communists. We don't need uncapped. The average communist needs about 2mb worth of cap. The more expensive the better! The last thing we want in this country is progress! Why ruin a perfectly unspoiled African country by developing it in terms of infrastructure and technology??!!?? Makes no communist sense at all! Right Minister Ivy? Should somebody be stupid enough to want to develop something here, like landing a cable or something, they need to be forced to pay government and its officials loads of cash! There are poor people in government that can do with the money. Some good must come from this madness, not so comrade Ivy?

What we do need however is more weapons and fighter jets. Those Griffin jets are getting old... Time to talk with the minister of defence again.

It's like buying a Ford Escort in South Africa is cost-equivalent to buying a Jaguar anywhere else...

Guys.

If you look at the Internet Solutions Packages on Fiber they start at R 2500 for 512k and R 5000 for 1mb. So in comparison a small ISP being able to offer a lower price then Internet Solutions is great.

192kb/s for online gaming? Should work "ok", but 384kb/s should be minimum for gaming, IMO.

It seems that its more for the corporate side of things - even so one can only assume that their pricing seems so mind boggling because of them (like all other ISP's) having to do business with the monopolistic devil which is Telscum.

if these offerings are cheaper and more efficient than Diginet - then corporates would do well to move along and save some money - and over a year - thats a lot of money.

But yet for us mere mortals - its not gonna do :D

Well if your 4meg line runs flatout 24 7, a gig will cost you about R14. This is obviously not aimed at the average user.

At the moment I would stick with the IS one. They are already doing offering at R2000 pm for fibre 512K

ODS say on there website that they maintain a 4:1 ratio with full P2P allowed. No ISP in the country could afford that one they get busy except Telkom at the moment. I would be skeptical of this.
