Ok, so I need to install Visio Standard with a Volume License onto a machine with Office 2016 Home and Business installed and get the below error.

Is there a solution that doesn't involve uninstalling one or the other or having to buy another type of licenced product?

Seems I might be able to do something about the issue with the Office 2016 Deployment Tool, has anyone used that before?

I swear there was a post here that went poof here.

Yes, the Office365 installer/activation that came with the Windows was removed and I have uninstalled the office 16 click to run extensibility component 64 bit registration which had given me an earlier issue.

That post was my blunder that I removed... I thought that "Get Office" crap thing was the "Click-to-run"

Guidance on the deployment tool is here: https://technet.microsoft.com/library/mt703272.aspx

If you cant come right doing it the legit way, you can do a VL conversion. However, you are on a legally grey Island at that point... If you are desperate you can PM me and I will point you in the correct direction

Irritates me to no end I throw all this money at Microsoft only to have to sometimes resort to a piracy tool to get the bloody thing to work.

I've contacted MS on this one and the only way to get an updated Visio when having office 365 installed is by paying for another O365 monthly service or by using on premise Visio 2013

But it is a a on premise office that is installed, I guess the VL visio is more O365 like, thus why it doesn't work. I'm going to try install VL Office 2103 today, they have unused licenses.

I was able to install Visio Standard 2013 VL but it just won't activate. It accepts the key (I enter the key, instead of using a e-mail) and does the setup thing but if you close and open Visio it just wants the key again.

Tried repairing the Visio and even adding the key on that uninstall/repair menu in control panel, no success.

ARG!

Did you try downloading the deployment tool and then modifying the configuration.xml as explained here: https://technet.microsoft.com/library/mt703272.aspx ?

I didn't find that useful at all since it does not say what I must do step by step, unfortunately.

I had downloaded the deployment tool and with the use of https://officedev.github.io/Office-IT-Pro-Deployment-Scripts/XmlEditor.html tried to get it working (ak installing) on my own PC without success.

The deployment tools setup opens and closes too fast to see what it has issue with so I cannot troubleshoot:

Configuration>
<Add OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="Current" SourcePath="c:\visio2" OfficeMgmtCOM="TRUE">
<Product ID="VisioStdXVolume">
<Language ID="en-us" />
</Product>
</Add>
<Display Level="Full" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
<Logging Level="Standard" Path="c:\log" />
</Configuration>

Update on solution:

Had to uninstall everything (used the office removed tool - o15-ctrremove to clear it all nicely)

Installed Visio Standard 2013 with VL and activated that successfully.

Then installed Office Home and Business 2016 and activated that successfully again.

Office Home and Business 2016 was preventing Visio Standard 2013 with VL from activating.
