You kick away your possession for 80 minutes, what do you think is going to happen?

Aimless kicks cost us. Why do we persist with up and understand against folau. The dudes the best player in the world at competing for the ball in the air and we keep kicking it to him?
Up and unders are fine, but when Fellou is taking everything we give him and habana and pieterson only try to tap back instead of catch, we are better off trying to hold on to the ball.

Up and unders are not fine. Players are too skilled nowadays at catching that all one does with up and unders are gifting the ball on a silver platter to the other team.

Exactly. 50/50. The TMO needs to be sure. You can't be 100% with those angles

You can't be pissed off with the TMO. We had 2 opporrunities to hold on and stuffed them up while the Wallabies backed themselves. Good win. We need to get out of the habit of giving posession away in those situations.

I was just talking about that call. Overall I wasn't impressed. Defense was iffy most times. But we scrumed well

That first penalty for falling over the ball, the whole game it was done by both sides, at the most crucial moment the ref decides to blow for it. Pathetic.

You have to see it from the global perspective. Nothing anyone loves more than an inevitable South African last minute choke in sports. Of course they want to see it happen.

Can someone explain the logic to me of putting the ball up to gain 2 meters with less than 50% chance of getting it back as our "go to" play ? Idiots deserve to lose.

Here's what I don't understand...

30 seconds to go.

We get the ball from a maul.

9 passes to a forward, makes contact falls to the ground. The refs do NOT like this, so they watch it like a hawk.

Guess what happens next?

Why not get the ball to the flyhalf, shift it down the line and, if tackled, set up another phase out wide? This all takes time. By the time the 9 gets there, the hooter has blown and he can pop the ball into touch. Simple.

Boks want to kick 40m and then try and steal back within 20m meaning a 20m gain.

Wallabies handled last minute pressure better than us. Credit where it's due.

But let's also not throw out all the positives for the Springboks. Much better scrummaging. Bismarck played wonderfully.

I thought defense was good. But when your game plan is defense only, you're taking a moerse chance on the opposition dropping the ball and giving possession back to you.

Bissie was great. Played like he did years ago.

How often did we kick for territory and actually kick the ball out, not defensive kicks but ones designed to push them back? I wouldn't be surprised if it was one or two.

We kicked the game away. :(

Haven't known a side to score without the ball.

This is what lost the game. 60 mins of quality ball. Then come the sub's. Ours could not do the job. Theirs made a huge impact. Stop with the preplanned sub's if you want to win. Why do we only focus on world cups. I'm really getting sick of this sport. We want to win regardless. We plan for 3 years then hope to win a world cup.
