http://news.arseblog.com/2016/08/wenger-new-is-just-new/

Some of these Wenger quotes just makes me want to throw something at my screen.

Yep, and there is also stuff like this.

The air of confusion that surrounds much of what is going on is hard to shake as well. After Man City Arsene Wenger seemed happy with the physical preparation, saying:

"We could see that we have played together for a while now, so there’s a good fluidity and understanding in our game … physically we look ready."

After yesterday’s debacle:

"Physically we are not ready … we are not capable of maintaining the level, because not all the players have the same level of preparation."

HTF can you go from ready to not ready?

It's so difficult to figure out wtf is going on in the last 2 years. We went from not selling our best players and actually bringing in some quaility ones (Ozil & Sanchez) to just nothing. Cech was a quality much overdue signing, but that window we only brought in a keeper.

Now we've got gaping holes in our squad and nothing. We seem unable to make any signings as all deals seem to fall through except the ones like Xhaka that was most probably sorted out long before the current window.

Gazidi's goes from "We can compete financially" to "we're in the poor house". Wenger contradicting himself every other press conference.

Here are my theories:

1) Wenger is just dead set on proving the whole of world football wrong. It's an ego thing and he is just too stubborn to let it go. Now freshly fuel by Leicester 1/250000 win of last year.

2) He is just to close to everything to look at the situation objectively. Out of touch with modern football, his squad and the fans.

3) He is just f..ing insane.

There is no leader in the Arsenal squad.

Wenger has done nothing to fix that.

Once again something said in the media. Wenger's response, he makes a player sidelined until Jan club Captain. See point 1 in my post above.

Henry has come out and said that the big players don't want to come to Arsenal....

Wenger should have bought big in July, its too late to fix this season....Any prospective player will need to have his buy out clause bought to move.....or Arsenal will pay a packet

Personally I don't care who wears the armband, we just need experience and coolheads on the pitch. Carzola, Cech, Kos, Sanchez, Ozil all vastly experienced at the highest level so we've got that.

You don't need somebody shouting and pointing like a mad man and that's somehow going to lift the team to new levels. It's the managers job to motivate his players and get the best out of them.

To be fair we've not been 1st choice since the Chelsea and City money revolution so that's not really the issue. No sane fan is asking him to buy 100mil pound players, all I see them asking is to address the weakness in the squad. Everybody else seems to be able to do that.

He bangs on about being second last season. We were a Newcastle fluke result away from 3rd. How many points behind Leicester who won the league with games to spare. Sourness is right, he squad is not good enough, haven't been in 12 years. He somehow doesn't see it.

He doesn't want to buy players because what happens if all of them are suddenly fit. Firstly that not going to happen, so relax Arsene. Secondly, so what. We've got 3 fit strikers, great lets see who can make a go for that starting spot.

Now we've got Giroud on Holiday coming back and is basically undroppable.

Bellerin is over-rated. He's a good player but definitely not world class. I'm sure my grandmother can cross a ball better than he can and his pace saves him a lot on defence. Monreal is better than Bellerin but still not world class. A world class player should be able to get into most teams in the world.

World class players at Arsenal, IMO:
Cazorla
Sanchez
Ozil
Koscielny
Cech

Bellerin was probably the best RB in the league last season.

Xhaka is also close to world class - we still have to see what he can do in the EPL, but he was one of the Swiss' best players in the Euros.

World class is a very subjective term. In order to debate who is and who is not world class there first needs to be a common understanding of the term.

"Would they/could they/did they play for Barcelona?" is probably a decent yardstick.

FML

Usmanov apparently considering selling his stake in Arsenal and investing in Everton instead.
