The timing of the deal in relation to his existing contract unfortunately trumps other factors is you want to keep the player. It's as simple as that.

If you don't want to keep the player then tell him to prove himself before you give him a new contract.

Suppose. Just not too pleased by the situation I guess. I feel that he should show Arsenal why he deserves it. Perhaps I'm just tired of the power that players have over clubs.

Players do have an edge when it comes to the balance of power. I like Walcott though, I think he is a tad underated. If he can pick up were he left off pre injury he will be well worth it.

2012/13 - 21 goals 14 assist
2013/14 - 6 goals 4 assist in his 13 games before he got crocked.

man why did this clown hodgeson pick Walcott to the England squad when he's played so little

Actually good for us. If he is going to get injured again he is going to get injured wether it's playing for us or playing for England.

He currently needs minutes on the pitch. Better for us if he gets back to form on Englands time.

Read somewhere that Giroud could be back in training next week. Great news to have another player fit.

I hope you guys keep Chambers at RB for the next game against United, him vs Di Maria could be fun.

City, not so much- they actually have more points at this juncture than they did last season.

Watched the last 20 min of the first half and then just couldn't be bothered after that. Our guys look absolutely terrible.

Ramsey is still trying way to hard and just not doing anything. Cazorla is a nothing in midfield. Sanchez + The Ox + a little bit of welbeck are our only shining lights.
Defense you cant even comment on, might as well be a league 2 team with the current makeshift *** we have.

Anyway. Ill also be out for a bit, not worth the annoyance tbh.

Makeshift defense costing us again. Chambers looks less and less convincing as a rightback. Wenger doing him no favors by playing him there.

We're getting into the habit of throwing away leads again. Not good news.

I thought Chambers was naturaly a right back? You saying he's a centreback?

He looked more convincing at centreback early in the season. He doesn't really have much going forward in my opinion. Yesterday he had a nightmare defensively as well.

So apparently Chelsea have won the league already. According to Wenger.

He really is a specialist in failure isn't he?

If he said we're still in the running you would be posting here about how delusional he is.

I might have thrown a jibe his way, sure but... totally accepting defeat in November? It's not like he used the "little horses" routine from the beginning a la Mourinho last season. I mean FFS, it's November. We're not THAT far ahead of everyone.

Doesn't it irritate you that he has such a defeatist outlook? LVG at least says there is a chance (which there definitely is, no matter how slight) - that's equally ridiculous but at least he doesn't roll over and die.

We've completed about 29% of the season. It's a long season. No one should be making any predictions at this point. We're used to seeing many teams start brightly and then just fade as the season goes on.
