Cazorla is a great player. Just glad he didn't score against us again :D

Been saying it for over 4 years now. Wenger has to go! This Arsenal side has no spine, we have a 6 foot something, 100 cap, world cup winning defender that ducks under the high ball? What does he teach these guy on the training ground? How to not get hit by a ball?

I screamed at the TV in the 65th for him to bring on cover as we needed to protect the lead, he goes and leave it late as usual. This man doesn't have a clue anymore.

Imagine we lost, some of you would be committing suicide :)

We're supposed to be a top side. Mediocrity simply isn't acceptable anymore.

Liverpool's game plan worked perfectly: starve us of possession. We finished with 30%+ possession. That's the lowest recorded OPTA stat for Arsenal. Ever. Welbeck was ineffective. Sanchez was snuffed out. And the only thing Giroud did right was score. But I suppose I understand AW's logic: we equalised with that setup, so why change it? The same set up also went ahead. Maybe the same setup could've defended the lead against 10 men. Hell, they'd done a pretty good job until all the subs started coming on. I guess those were necessary, what with the number of games coming on. Arsenal's biggest problem STILL is that we have no idea how to shut up shop. Oh, and could we PLEASE put someone on the ****ing post for free kicks and corners?! Their leveller flew into the area where someone should have been standing. It's not the first time it's cost us. It's defending 101. But not if Steve Bould is your defensive coach.

Oh, and in case you haven't heard, apparently Vidic was offered to us last week, and AW said no...

And this doesn't help, either - Chambers on the wrong side of the player attacking the ball, and wtf is BFG hiding from? More balls! More commitment!

PS: That leap, though.

If you look where Skrtel ran from you'd see why Chambers is behind him. All the Arsenal defenders were on the 6 yard box line and Skrtel just ran in from the top of the box.

Didn't post the "before" pic. Nacho points out Skrtel to Chambers who was behind him at that stage. He didn't watch the run, and Skrtel scored. All he literally had to do was get in his way.

My main concern is Gibbs, though. Had he been on the line (like he's done for seasons gone by), Skrtel probably wouldn't have scored. **** zonal marking!

We made 3 subs of which 2 was to directly shore up our defensive game, yet we go and concede to 10 men.

Always seemed like the Gunners were playing for a draw. Watched Fan Zone and this one chap said that Wenger stopped coaching 10 years ago. I couldn't help but crack.

I actually lol'd when I read that. So true. We've had the same game plan for years. Never adjusted it. Even when we were 3-0 up against Anderlecht, we were still pressing. And we paid for it. That game plan worked for The Invincibles - it doesn't work for us now. He's just failed to adapt over the years. In the meantime, teams don't even need to watch our previous games before they play us. They just need to watch double-winning highlights reel from 16 years ago.

It's so simple though. Winning a game? Stop attacking every time you have the ball! Keep possession, make the team with 10 men run around even more. Oh well. Yesterday has been consigned to the history books. On to QPR.

Too many attack minded players. Arsenal need a player that can protect the back line and also physically imposing. Per Mertesacker is too slow for the premiership. Just my 2 cents.

Just wrote a long post and then thought f-it. Pointless having anymore discussions about this. Things won't change until things at the club change.

AKBs, for those out of the loop that means "Arsene Knows Best's", are now calling for Steve Bould's head. They blame him for our shocking defensive play, well I guess our defense was top notch then for the past 8 years before he came.

for interest sake, for the #WengerOut's, who would you have replace him?

I know who I would, but that is could only realistically happen in the 2016/2017 season.

Quite frankly Steve Bould would do a better job than what Wenger's done this season.

But here are potential replacements:
Simone (His done with Atletico imo)
De Boer (Hope this could happen, with packaged Bergkamp deal #iwish)
Koeman (Southampton been fantastic this season, considering they sold half their sqaud)
Klopp (even though BVB are having a dreadful season, top manager)
Roberto Martinez (class act, needs a chance at a bigger club)

There are many other top managers out there, Arsenal are a big club and trying to a attract a top manager wouldn't be that hard.

Klopp is not a quick fix though. He'll need a few seasons.

I have to put our defensive errors down to SB's implementation of the zonal system. While he may have been a great defender in his day, his tactics simply do not suit our team. No man on the post is down to the zonal system, and it's cost us countless times already. Don't get me wrong: the system DOES work. Just not for us.

As for replacements for AW, we might see one sooner than we think if we don't make 4th this year, or win the FA Cup again, or through some miracle, win the CL (we were "lucky" to win the FA Cup last year, and it's probably the only reason AW is still with us). I think we've, regardless of what's happened, somehow fallen in love with AW's legacy. What he's done is great, because when he came to England he changed the EPL. Not just by winning trophies, but by implementing strict diets, etc (players, not just from Arsenal, would regularly go out and get pissed - under AW, that became a no-no. He turned footballers into athletes). But that's where it ends. Everyone else embraced the changes, but adapted them, and moved further forward (Chelsea, Man City, most notably). AW is still stuck in 1996. While what he did tactically worked for a while and we were hugely successful for many years (also in a huge part down to the players we had), those days are pretty much over. Again, other teams have adapted. They also have immensely skilled, lightning quick players that can counter attack in seconds. Their players are also immensely powerful athletes. In the meantime, our players are a shadow of the team we once had. They have bags of skill, yes, but how many in our team are 6'2 and built like a brick ****house? Maybe Giroud. But what he has in size and strength, he lacks in skill. The Invincibles (bar Ashley Cole) were mostly all 6-footers, and physically strong - they'd just outmuscle everyone to get the ball back. our current crop either randomly fall over, or get swatted away.

Ramble above basically translates to AW hasn't adapted to a changing league, and it's cost us. Our players aren't bad - not usually, anyway. They just need someone to guide them when they're out there. To motivate them when they're a goal down. AW simply isn't that kind of manager. He probably sets the tactics (the same ones he's used for 17 years), sees how it goes until HT, tinkers a bit, and waits for the final whistle. A perfect example of his naivety is his lack of substitutions when they game needs something different. How many times have you sat in front of your TV screaming at AW to get someone off who's been ineffective the whole game? Or when we needed a striker on if we needed a goal? I still remember how he left Eboue on the pitch, letting the poor sod get booed by our own supporters every time he touched the ball, because he was having such a bad game. Yes, he took him off eventually, but then it was too late.

We need a new manager, not because AW is a ****, and I hate him. On the contrary, I adore the man and all he's done for us. But 17 years is a long time, and it's time to look past all the nostalgia, and think of what's best for the club.

Replacements? De Boer, Koeman, Simeone, Klopp. Take your pick. They all have their flaws, but they're all natural winners who have done great things as players and coaches, and they all have fresh ideas. Give someone new a chance. We can't surely be any worse than we currently are.

Agreed. But we're Arsenal. We have nothing but time. We waited 10 years for a trophy. We can wait a couple more season for the new manager to get us a few more.
