I was about write something similar, refreshed the page and wala!
Just to add though. When we're old and grey, no ones gonna look back and talk about how Arsenal were in the CL for 20 consecutive seasons. No, they're gonna talk about how Barca, Bayern, "Liverpool", Real Madrid etc, dominated.
On the injuries. I blame that solely on Arsene Wenger and his training methods. Too many people have come out and critised it for it to be a myth. How do you explain the duration of time Arsenal Players are out due to injury? No other team in the league has that problem and it's season after season.
Re: injuries. I'm certain any other manager would've at least attempted to do something when for like 10 years in a row, key squad members disappear every November (usually). It's not like our injury crisis is new. It's just that this season seems to be the worst. Our only saving grace is that Sanchez hasn't broken down (yet). AW has pretty much come out and said that except for Ospina starting tomorrow, he has to take the same 18 players that went to Southampton, because he literally has no-one else. Could you even IMAGINE something like that EVER happening at a club like Chelsea?! If it even showed signs of ever happening people would start getting sacked, guaranteed. They have a manager who doesn't take **** from anyone, and an owner with an even lower tolerance level. Us? Meh. We don't know what causes the injuries, but whatever - let's just hope our players come back, and let's not spend any money reinforcing our squad when it was quite clear that we don't have a capable defence, and ageing central/defensive midfielders.
We also have Diaby, who is like a new signing - every year. But only for a week. Then he's ****ed again.
Yes, a new manager might not be the immediate solution. I'm an Arsenal fan(atic). I know "transition" like the back of my hand. I know all about trying to "build a team for tomorrow" focused on bringing up youth players. But tomorrow still hasn't come. I'll gladly get behind whoever takes over. People try use SAF and Moyes as examples, and they really can't be compared at all. SAF was a winner right until he retired. He didn't fail for 10 years (bar a lucky FA Cup) and then leave. AW was great. He did amazing things (as I've said over and over again). But it's in the past.
As much as I hate Maureen, he's a natural winner. He fights every single game to WIN (sometimes he'll park the bus, but it gets him the result he wants). There are LOADS if managers like him - managers that CARE. AW? He just shook his head when Southampton scored their first. That's all he ever does (except fight with the 4th official).
I shouldn't be, but I'm actually worried about the game tomorrow. I'm really not confident that we can go out there, at home, and get a convincing result against HULL.
