Dude... Bendtner's always been useless. He's the only person who thinks he's a good player. RvP would've had a hat trick tonight.

From The Guardian. Big loss if he's out for a significant amount of time.

Bendtner has been out injured since October, he's only played 3 games since then, he will surprise everyone and be a great player :)
and Cesc was taken off as a precaution for a tight hamstring, its not torn

Bendtner did miss some sitters. He did though, get himself into the position to score them, which is encouraging. I'd be worried if was never in the position to have a shy at goal. Nick B scored that vital goal at Stoke which no other member of the Arsenal squad could have scored. Don't forget he is only 20-21.

I'd take Bendtner over Welbeck, Sturridge, Ngog anyday.

Exactly, and previous to this game he scored 3 in 3 games, 2 for Arsenal and 1 for Denmark, he also got an assist for Theo against Burnley..

Nivek, i like your new Sig.

On a more serious note, even though Bendtner missed a few chances on the weekend, the header he scored v stoke was amazing. I think he has a lot of potential, lets hope he can come up with the goods tonight.

Tarnatula, i have a feeling that Denilson might start. I would prefer it if he didnt, but i rate he just might. Dunno if Walcott will start, he might go for Rosicky and keep the pace for later as well.

hehe tx :D

I think he'll go with Diaby, he plays really well with Nasri, the recent carling cup game (cant remember against who..was it wigan?) when the 2 of them came on and turned an entire game around comes to mind

I reckon Theo will get another start as well, to build on his brilliant performance against Burnley, and being a home game, it'll just build on his confidence as well

I like to think Diaby is first choice, but because he is coming back from injury Le Boss might just start with Denilson. So you may be right. With Cesc not playing, Nasri needs to have a big game tonight, if he does Arsenal through to the quarters.

Every game Diaby plays is a return from injury, but anyways, he got a good shift in on Saturday, 60+ mins, so he should be good for the first 70 tonight

What a great result - we needed that one.

Nasri and Arshavin in tandem - really great performance - Porto were guilty of standing off and allowing them to mesmerize them with their footwork.

Even Eboue made 2 excellent runs in the 2nd half for the 4th and 5th goals(penalty)

Yeah a great result indeed & the hat-trick will do Bendter good... Porto were very poor throughout the game. I think it'd be tougher playing Wolves, it's a good thing the gooners didn't allow them a foot in the game.

Great game Arsenal! I enjoyed the first 20 minutes the most.

Nasri's goal was superb! Arsenal play brilliant football, loved the way they dictated Porto in the first half especially.

Didn't i say give him a chance!! Bendtner, Arsharvin, Nasri all had fantastic games. Rosicky song played very well too, and i was quite impressed with Sol and Vermaelen. Good signing in Sol.

Sol is a good enough stop gap(But he will be shown up against strikers with more pace and teams counter-attacking) - but I fear it will be a bit taxing on Vermaelen - he is tentative covering for Alumnia now he has to baby sit both Sol/Silvestre along with the GK. Here's hoping Gallas recovers soon.

The midfield functioned so well - all of them in tandem. I was impressed by the pace of Arshavin , breaking away for the 4th and Eboue rampaging ahead(he seems to be maturing - I hope) - nice dummy by Eboue to throw the keeper off balance.

Nasri revelled in the freedom and responsibility of his central play maker role - assisted and abetted by Arshavin, Rosicky.

Song and Diaby held things together for the most part in the middle.

Great game.

What a fantastic performance by the boys especially Nasri. He dictated the midfield and his goal was superb. Really really glad to see Nick B pick up a bag of goals so he can put the Burnley game behind him. We did look a bit shakey in defence at times, but Song really helped out the back 4. Song has become such an important member of the team. Great little cameo from Eboue at the end.

We seem like a happy, confident team at the moment and it is so good to see. There is a self belief there that I haven't seen for a while in an Arsenal Squad. Only concern is the vacancy left by Gallas - Gallas had a setback in training and will be out for another month. I have confidence in Sol, but you have to think that his age and lack of pace is going to be exposed some time in the month.

Anyway, so stoked today. Will be interesting to see who we'll get in the next round. Wenger says he would like to draw Chelsea or Utd to get some revenge for the results in the prem. I dunno, I would like to avoid english teams at this stage and maybe get Olympiacos/Bordeaux or CSKA/Sevilla.

Will be very interesting.

yeah, I would give anything for a draw like with either one of those teams mentioned - Olympiacos/Bordeaux or CSKA/Sevilla.

Think the guys are just busy building up some confidence - would'nt want to get knocked back just yet.

I don't share the same confidence in us playing against the more established big teams at the moment.

Sol is a seasoned campaigner, I have full faith that he can get himself in the right positions at the right time. He might not be the quickest but he has the old school defender mentallity and build. Also tackles very well under pressure and in the box.

We really struggled, but got the points we needed. Linesman had a howler.
Yep :( still no idea why Bendtner got yellow carded also, seems the ref and the linesman were pretty incompetent in this game

When we hit 90 mins i was starting to get depressed, thinking the race for the title is over

I cant believe how Eboue has matured this season, from being worse than a drunk prostitute kicking a ball around a park, to his current form today, quite a transformation

And Bendtner now has 7 goals in 6 games? :D

We did get quite lucky with our goal... Arsharvin had a bad game as well. Eboue has finally come into some very good form, he is working hard, dribbling well and making things happen. Eduardo was quiet again when he came on, i wonder how long wenger will persist with him, and if he will look at picking up someone in July. I like Bendtners height cos he is able to win a high ball and hold up the game for the wingers to get into it... i think van persie would be able to play very well off him...

Waiting to wake up a bit more then i am going to read that article you posted. Maybe get some coffee quick.
