Sorry Gunners, was actually hoping you'd pull off a surprise win, but a Messi hat trick in the first half has dashed those hopes!!

LOL I liked it when the SS panel said "its unfair that a god is playing with humans"
But I gotta say Messi's 3rd goal.. pure class

Found a defensive mistake in each goal, fantastic finishing though, made us pay for our terrible defence. Song is missing today, he man marked messi well in the first half of the first game. I still think Arsenal can come back here though, are capable of doing it and I think Barca are aware of it so they won't be sleeping... Game ON I SAY, CUMMON YOU GUNNERS!!!!!

They outplayed play us, although I thought Arsenal was better in the 2nd half. Rosicky had a nightmare...

Well, we had our chances... Didn't take them. Messi has had 5 chances and scored 4, first one went over...

Bendtner did really well on his goal, but other than that he has been quite dissapointing. Really missed the Clinical RVP and Cesc Fabregas today but more importantly we lacked at the back. Need to defintely sign someone like a Canavaro in defense (an organizer)... Song was sorely missed. Messi reminded me of Arsharvin vs Liverpool, very clinical finishing. WD Barca, will take something special from Jose's boys to stop you.

Wenger needs to take a look at his Squad and sort out those 2/3 troublesome positions. Going forward we did enough across the 2 legs, heck we even took the lead, so going forward (with our full squad) i am happy. Completely lacked in defense and it has been exposed again. Sagna/Eboue go forward but didn't defend. Clichy did a little better this game and i like him going up on the left, since we sorta lack on that side going forward since henry/pires left but i do expect cover from whoever is playing on that wing. Still think Almunia should have done a little better on the first one, and the last one... Don't even think he ranks in the top 6 goal keepers in the premiership, which is worrying...

Actually, conceded 6 against barca, 5 against united, 4 (might have even been 5) against chelsea this season... Not good enough... If Wenger doesn't see this we r in rouble. Looking at this stat we might actually need an even stronger player than Song (yes he has played well but he is definitely no Gilberto/Viera).

Yea, they outplayed us, but not like the first game.... Strange game football :p Quick question for Cantera, either Busqests or Alves play in Italy before making their move to Barca ??? They certainly both over did it a little out there. Also think the ref had another shocker but arsenal would have lost even if he got it right. Outclassed by Messi...

well played barca and messi - they took their chances when they got them.

not surprised at the result - did not expect us to hit them with a goal that early in the game - expected barca to score 1st actually. \

for me, when i look at messi's 1st and 2nd goals particularly, i think that we have a 1 nil lead and we in a situation where diaby has bendtner to his left and theo in space to burn abidal on his right and he passes (badly might i add) toward bendtner instead. now against barca, you dont get many chances, so to create a clear cut opening and have it go to waste leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. at 2 nil barca would have been rattled and who knows?

but, such is football and life - we must move to the next game and we have important cup ties to come - i think sylvestre's positioning and reaction to things going on around him (or lack of), are going to be a problem. we need to sort that out first.

i thought clichy had a good game - nasri too quiet for me. denilson god bless him - it's not his fault - he does what he can. at the end of the day, the manager picks him and he did alright.

rosicky, the least said the better - eduardo, none the better tho he didnt have much time

theo showed glimpses of the pace and danger he can cause teams - barca kept scrambling to their right with 2-3 players everytime they thought he was going to run off.. they kept him out the game.

would fabregas, rvp, song, gallas/campbell have made a difference? i dont know. maybe...but i think over the 2 legs barca deserved the result.

good game in the end - tough luck and here's to next season's one

cantera will be licking his own you-kno-what's tonight till he falls alseep on his you-kno-what's shaped pillow hehe... well done barca

and well done gooners.

Believe.

I do have a big problem with Eduardo, he is fresh legs but he wasn't pressing for the ball. To me that just isn't good enough. Doesn't seem to have his same drive since his injury, which is a complete opposite of Diaby who came back better after his injury. Too much going forward. Problem with Denilson is Wenger plays him in very defensive position, and that is not his natural game, he also like to go forward. If he left, we wouldn't miss him as we have too many players now wanting to play in the center. Rosicky was struggling, pace was too high for him. Walcott always seems to play better coming off the bench rather than starting...

Wouldn't mind seeing someone like Chamakh coming in for Eduardo. Bendtner needs to put in some good hours but there is potential there. I have no idea how we are going to fix the defensive line, but we have to... Maybe bring back the old boys, Adams, Dixon, Winterburn and Keown. U had to be some kinda special to get thru those boys and then beat Seamen. Almunia had a good first half in the first leg but its the first time this season i have seen him make some good saves. I know we dont get attacked that much, but every goal keeper has tons and tons of tapes of great saves, i dont remember him making too many over this season.

i think that what this arsenal team has is a bit different, but still special. i think the focus is that collectively, they work well as a unit. i think that they've been together a long time now and it shows. we do need to add in a few - the comment above about eduardo - that is something i think is plainly obvious, he has lost that bit of pace and competitiveness he had when he 1st came to the club. whether that will return i'm not sure - perhaps Chamakh on a free is the business we can expecr AW to be doing in the summer. I think he will be bringing Havard Nordveidt in to the squad rather than going to bring in someone new in defence. also think gallas and campbell will be given 3 and 1 year deals respectively. Sylvestre i doubt will be back next season.

dont expect AW to be too involved in the transfer market. I think he will see this season as progress if not successful with what he has had to put up with in terms of finances etc.

we do - especially since vermaelen goes walkabout in the big games and we get caught time and again while he is upfield only to be caught out by a single hoofed clearance a-la everton for pienaar's goal, man utd x 3, chelsea (i lose count) and barca for at least 4 of 6 goals.

Hard Luck Gunner boys!

At the end you were totally outclassed by Barcelona and Messi.

I think now Messi has proved that he is by far the best player in the world.

4 goals against Arsenal

Men against Boys.

I must admit, both legs were absolutely AMAZING!!!
