Song is out for the match at the Spuds and the match away to Wigan Athletic. We should line up:

almunia-sagna-campbell-vermaelen-clichy
denilson as the holding midfielder
nasri in the 'cesc role' with diaby in-between either box
rosicky down the left-eboue down the right
bendtner up front

subs: fabianski, sylvestre, eduardo, eastmond, walcott, van persie, traore

i think we would be nicely balanced if we play 2 naturally wide players like rosicky and eboue, rather than sticking diaby out left, as suggested by the pundits.

spuds can't be underestimated, but at the same time they aren't barcelona, and we should pose them many problems.

i think our back 4 will have to watch both crouch and defoe very closely, especially with the high-line we seem to be playing. defoe is really quick over 5 yards and we could get caught out pushing forward.

Poor showing from Arsenal tonight. But I hope Arsene has learnt a valuable lesson, in that great players win you games. We looked shocking for 65 minutes until RVP came on. From then on we looked a different team. A fully fit Arsenal squad is a potent team, but a few injuries to key players and we screwed.

Time to open the cheque book Arsene and strengthen our squad.

P.s. Campbell and Silvestre as our heart of defence? Pffft is he having a laugh?

Well said. They must possibly be the worst combination ever. Silvestre is the ***est player, campbell still somehow managed his own. I dont think we will win at this rate, disapointing but kinda knew it considering our injury list :(
Comon Wenger, see the light and sign a couple of players.

Campbell is ok, really decent for a 4th choice centre back and I think we should hang to him next season, considering he costs us next to nothing, he is good experience to have and he still is a really decent player, he wasnt responsible for any of the goals, and lets face it we will never get someone of his quality willing to sit on the bench. Wenger is definately going to have to sign 2 new CB's though, as Silvestre and Gallas (gutted about Gallas, he's also world class) look set to be leaving..

Silvestre was terrible as usual.. Knew it was all over when Verm went off :( and he is out for the last 4 games, maybe Djourou will be fit to play the last 4 games

Eboue and Diaby were so mediocre, Diaby had some great touches, and turned alot of players but they both spend so much time on the ball and to make decisions that they inevitably run in to dead ends.. Eboue was shocking, and responsible for their second goal

But it wasnt all doom, RVP is back and he is looking fantastic, oh man, if he can stay fit for next season, we have a world class striker.. If Ibra is worth 70, Robin is worth 170!

Hope none of you guys have Spurs fans at work to contend with, I've got a few at gym but ill be avoiding the place till next week :D I ran my mouth a bit too much about them not beating us in the league since 99 :(

lol, bit extreme that.

I don't think he should be sacked, i just think he needs to sign 2-4 GOOD players in the summer and we will be A for away.

Agreed and think this is the summer Wenger splashes.. Will be interesting to see who comes and go's, we have a few slackers and a few really average players..

Wont be surprised to see Silvestre/Almunia/Edu(though we should hang onto him since we wont make anything off his sale)/Gallas/Arshavin and possibly Eboue departing, with a new keeper, 2 new centre backs, a striker, and a right back, coming in..

Hope we can hang onto Arshavin (only listed him because of the rumors of him leaving) and Gallas though

I think Hangeland from Fulham would be a decent signing. Experienced and a rock.

But the injury problems Arsenal have are ridiculous. We can't play 90 min without losing a couple players to injury. Wtf.

The injuries we have had this season has yet again been the deciding factor in our season. Some of our second string players did well, but just couldn't do it for the whole season. They ran out of steam.

We lost our best Striker (RVP) early in the campaign. We didn't buy a player to replace Adebayor and that ****ed us. Bendtner has done an excellent job for which we are quite lucky to be honest. Nick B's performances in the previous season were dubious to say the least. Nick B was injured for a month a think? We had 5 foot Arshavin as our leading striker... wtf?

When we saw how excellent the pairing of Gallas and TV was we were all saying if one of them got injured, we are screwed. It happened. What if we had not acquired Campbell in the summer transfer window? It was a freak set of circumstances that got Sol back at the Grove, so what if this did not happen? Worrying thoughts.

Arshavin, our most expensive player, had a very quiet season. There was alot of talk that he was carrying injuries throughout the season even when he was starting games which could be the reason for his poor season. He has also had significant injuries which have kept him out of the side, like he has right now. What if Arshavin was playing last night? He would've been the creative spark we deperately needed. On a side note, how predictable was our play last night? Shava is the one man who is certainly not predictable.

Then comes our most influencial player, our captain, Cesc Fabregas. Sidelined with hamstring injuries for a few brief spells, we missed him but we coped. But now with a season ending injury, its dead obvious how much we really do miss him. He is the heart beat of the team. A huge loss to the side at a time when we could least afford it.

Lets not forget Alex Song, who in my opinion, has been the most improved player this season and quite possibly the Arsenal player of the season. I wonder how things would have transpired had he played at the Nou Camp. He marked Messi out of the game at the Emirates. He should be back soon, but we have really missed him in the last few crucial games.

Clichy, Walcott, Gibbs, Djourou, Nasri, Ramsey (how can we forget the star in the making we have there) were/are all out for significant periods.

I know all teams get injuries, but Arsenal consitently season after season, have significant injuries which indirectly result in our slumps in the season.

I still maintain a full fit Arsenal squad is a potent team but they are never all fully fit are they? I think Arsene might be a bit naive in thinking we won't receive injuries "next season". It certainly seems so by the transfers, or lack there of, over the passed few seasons.

Strengthen the squad Arsene, its a no brainer. And no, signing 1 striker (Chamakh) is NOT going to make it all better.

It doesnt end :(

" Vermaelen's season may be over
Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Thomas Vermaelen is expected to be out for the end of the season."

Guess this is yet another write off season. Now all our players must miss the world cup and get fit for next season :p

Arsene rocks :D

http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...ager-arsene-wenger-insists-cesc-fabregas-wont

Anyway, I can't see anyone who has a competitive edge wanting to go to Spain.

"They have two good teams, I'll admit that. But the number three is 27 points behind.

"This weekend the players go on strike becuse they are not paid.

"It is a league that is in complete disarray."

Wenger also cannot understand why any player who is truly competitive would want to play in Spain, and insists that he is inundated with requests from Spanish players wanting to come to the Emirates.

"I don't know why you want absolutely the best players who play in England to go to Spain," he added
