Would Given have stopped the onslaught from Barca in the first half of the ECL match at the Emirates? No chance in hell. Given doesn't have the a big game mentality.

Almunia doesn't have any game temperament. He got lucky with a few of those against barca, but how many points did he loose us this season ? PLENTY man!! Remember the own goals against united and City? Remember getting caught in no mans land against Birmingham? Remember selling himself against Zlatan in the same game he made all those great saves?? Alumina is a CHOP! I said it since the champs league final, and i will continue to say it!! Wenger really needs a keeper and Chamakh. Need to offload some center mids now, think Denilson needs to go, and the Diaby needs to be looked at. I like Ramsey and Wilshere more than Diaby, can't really see him breaking into the squad ahead of those 2. Someone strong to give Song some competition, keep him in his toes (he really needs to learn how to cut out the angle ball). Melo was a great option that we missed out on last season. I dont think Fran Merida renewed his contract, but then where would he play? he wants to play the same position as cesc, ramsey, wilshere and diaby... they are all currently better than him.

You can pull out all the brilliant saves in the world, but if you can't do the basics properly, you don't count as being sufficient for a top 4 club. Remember all the times Wenger has dropped Almunia for the much-of-the-same Fabianski? Arsenal need a new 'keeper, and soon.

From your (very flawed) remarks, I'm guessing you don't actually watch much football (aside from Arsenal games - which should be enough to put you off Almunia)

Glad fans out of the red side of manchester can even see Given is better than Almunia.

Dude, blind people can see Given is a brilliant 'keeper. I wish United had bought him to replace VDS. I'm sure he would've rather have been with a club with a secure CL place year after year.

Given is good but Almunia is far better, he just being having a bad season. If Arsenal want to be fighting for the championship they need a player on par with the Van Sars and Chechs of the world and both Almunia and Given are far from that.

Fell of my chair laughing when I read this. Given is easily the most under-rated keeper in the world. Definitely one of the best in my books.

I would love to see a new Defensive Training camp at Arsenal. Let by Dixon and Adams with the experience of Campbell still in the team. We have Vermaelen who can learn, and we have that Youngster that can replace Gallas in the next 2 seasons. Sagna needs to sit down with a proper right back like Dixon and learn how to put defence before attack. How to track back and how to anticipate players runs. Same with Clichy. He could also do with some confidence of getting a goal or 2. The man can make some very nice runs but his end shot is average. His crosses are quite reasonable, but without someone like Chamakh who can attack crosses he isn't that effective. RVP is tall but doesn't attack too many with his head. Bendtner has been doing well, and is getting better, but i am not sure he is ready to be starting week in week out yet. Recently we have really switched to the right sided attack, which is quite sad, since we were a team that dominated down the left with the Cole, Pires and Henry combo. Still i am not too worried about going Forward, we do that very well against most teams.

We can take a page out of Barca and Inters books with the pressing defending they do. Thats where the Wingers really need to step up their game. Arsharvin is too lazy and never wants to chase a ball back. Nasri does it a little bit, but they leave most of that work for Fabregas, and though he does it well he isn't that quick.

Lots of rumours about players coming in and players leaving. Don't think we can afford to loose any of our established players, it just hurts the squad too much. Need to hang onto Vermaelen, Fabregas, Song, Nasri, RVP, Arsharvin and hopefully Gallas (but it seems like he might be on his way out). Also lots of rumours about signings and Wenger seems keen to sign a few players and all of them before the World Cup, which will be great! Really hope we get Chamakh as VP, Bendtner are going to have World cup hangovers for sure.

I have a question: If Arsenal ever find themselves in the Europa League which side will Wenger go for? The Senior or the Young Guns?

1. Arsenal are not a Europa League side, so no need to worry. The Europa League is reserved for the Liverpools and Fulhams of this world.
2. If we ever do, which we won't, miss Champions and get into Europa, I think Wenger won't be around to pick the side.

+1

Agree with all, especially the bit about our defensive issues. Certainly a GK, CB and DM are required. Song can't carry the burden of the DM all season, we need an adequate replacement for him. I am afraid Denilson just doesn't cut it. Someone in the mould of Yaya Toure, Felipe Melo would be ideal.

Really hope Gallas stays, and the Spanish Waiter is shown the door.

Chamakh is just about a certainty. So that is 4 possible transfers. Crazy talk when it comes to Arsenal, so I will believe it when I see it.

Never it is Wenger that made Arsenal what it is. and other manger can create a title challenging team with the limited resources that arsenal have. Case in point Arshavin Arsenals biggest ever buy at a cost of around 17 million. Also Arsenal is the leagues only profitable team an all that is due to Wenger himself

i would think that AW would go for his strongest team, knowing they would have a chance at winning the europa league.

I dunno, you can build a legacy but everyone has to go sometime. No-one is bigger than the club and if the club starts faltering some things need to be re-evaluated. Again this is only if Arsenal don't make the champs league, but 5 seasons without a trophy I am starting to think Arsene needs to do something really great next season! This season proved a few things:

1) We have a good team but lack depth to cover for injuries. United were without both centre backs for quite a while and still managed.
2) Players are lacking experience to handle the big games, and cracked in most big games this season.

These problems can be covered by a few good signings, and since the board have made it clear that their is a lot of money available we are still in around 300 million dollar debt last I checked. Pretty sure united turned a profit last season, just financed a whole lot of debt as well. Also been a big fan of Arsenal and Arsene for a long time, but this was another great season, but trophyless. I rather we spend some money, manage that debt and win trophies. Glaziers might be crazy for all the debt they have caused United, but look at the clubs value. They wouldn't even accept a 1 billion pound offer, and value it close to 1.5 billion. That will easily finance all their debt, make huge profits, and still means they have trophies, so is Wengers model the best? Its conservative and looks great on a balance sheet, but it hasn't delivered what the fans want. I will stay loyal to Arsenal no matter who the coach and no matter what the division, but I would really like to see some trophies and not just a well managed balance sheet.

My first memory of Arsenal was when I was 4 years old. My family was soccer-mad and my dad supports Liverpool and his brothers Man Utd, Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Aston Villa. In the years that followed (1983 onward) we won NOTHING. George Graham came in, we won the league cup but back then we didnt have SS or anything like that, so it kinda went under the radar until the title decider in 1989. It was shown live in SA and i was the only one in my family supporting Arsenal.

I'm waffling here - the point I was getting to was that at that point, all Arsenal had won before that match at anfield in 89 was the double in 1970/71, the uefa cup 1971 and FA Cup in 79.

I wasn't around for those, so winning trophies was and sometimes still is new to me. strange to say - but it feels that way.

Of course I am gutted when we haven't won at the end of a season - but I think AW has spoilt us in a way and made us winners, champions etc and the way the world sees our club now, i would never have dreamed to be mentioned in the same breath of the likes of Barca, Real etc. AW has brought that to our famous old club and I think the least I can do is be a little patient toward him. He is just as passionate as we are and wants it just as much as we do.

let's see what happens.

oh heavens, please put me out of my misery now.

The fsker Wenger has started his age old ditty again : " The Gunners boss, however, maintains his playing staff does not need major surgery.

'I believe in the squad I have and if I can make an addition to the squad - two or three maximum - then we will do it.'

He only needs 2 or 3 my word.

Rosicky is so far off the pace it's scary - Arshavin has expressed his dreams of playing for Barca - again!!

Plus you have Silvestre who is out of contract (so we need additional defensive cover) Gallas out of contract - and 2 of the worst keepers by a country mile in the premiership.

Here ends my interest in english football - will continue following my fav teams in spain, italy and france(especially now that OM is back) .

Screws to you Arsene Wenger - Stay on another season and then maybe we can snag ol Pep

Ok you go support those terrible leagues (and hopefully u never come back and support Arsenal. Don't need supporters who only want to support teams that win). I also hope Arsenal NEVER get a coach as full of himself as Pep or Jose.
