I'm really ticked off at the poor audio during the match. It pretty much ruined the first half for me. So much so I even posted in the wrong place about it!

My misplaced post

Any chance it could be moved here?
Was very irritating yes... If it had been a Currie Cup match between Boland and The Leopards there wouldn't have been any issues at all. Seems typically they only stuff up when it counts..

Yup, the testing of the new Xhosa commentary never went well.

Whoa the TMO is, eh, FRENCH! Get atleast someone who can atleast UNDERSTAND, English! Had a great laugh, at Monye's almost try, and when Phillips knocked it. Hir response to a knock was: "Forward, forward, forward."

Great test!
We dominated all aspects of the game, so much for the Lions scrum strength!!
Changes made by PdV were very poor, and we took our foot off the peddle.

1-0 in the series, all the pressure on the Lions.

Well done Bokke!

Really delayed reply here, but I thought the subs we made were really stupid, probably been discussed to death already though.
But I also think this was our hardest game - sea level, rusty players, not a venue we dominate. We should go one to whitewash them!
Heh, and as expected all the poms are moaning about the ref.

I was astounded by the level of arrogance shown by PdV.

Firstly: The timing of the substitutions. He clearly adopted the attitude that the boks had won the game already, long before it was time to bring on substitutions.

Secondly: I think it is highly arrogant of a Springbok coach to play players outside of the position that they play S14. The S14 coaches deal with the players a great deal more, and the players become versed in that position. So to take Frans Steyn who has been playing at inside centre the whole year and play him at fullback is in my view arrogant.

Looking at the subs: He took Jean de Villiers off when the commentators mentioned that Jacobs had already been struggling with cramp. That left him with two specialist outside centers. Then in his great wisdom, he took Jacobs off, move Frans Steyn to inside centre and moved Morne Steyn to fullback (where I don't think he has ever played before). By the end, I was half expecting to see JP Pietersen play scrumhalf. How is a defensive effort possibly expected to gel, when it is chopped and changed so much, and players are played out of position.

We won that match despite of PdV who was by FAR our worst enemy on the day.

I really hope Snorre has now seen how K@K Januarie is...

Also what was he thinking putting two new props on and then putting two nr5 locks together just after he replaced our fetcher??!?!?!

Then he jumbles the backline up so that we now have a never before played(IIRC) centre combo! WTF?

It was a 'orrible game, seriously, for the first 60 minutes we deserved to win, after that we just crumpled

I mean c'mon, in those last 5 minutes, the lions on average went through 7 - 10 phases and we could not get the ball once??!!

Big ups to beast, the man is a scrumming machine, but I feel Bismarck needs to be taken down hard, I'll take bets, that he will be our first yellow card.

And then of course Brussouw, there should not even be a doubt in anyones mind that, that little pitbull belongs in the squad.

Jacobs, meh, 0 on a contract, how about a change and let Fourie start and he can come up as a sub later on

Spies, Can't believe I am saying this, but maybe we also need kanko to start, and then bring up spies as a sub. Spies had an awful game, and never really got going with the ball

+1 but 10-1 the team will be the same with brussouw on the bench instead of Januarie and Schalk starting(IF he is 100%).

PdV also has a love for a steady team, which is not a bad thing.

I would also like to see Fourie start and Jacobs on the bench.

One thing I wonder about is, why don't they use Spies on 6 and someone like russouw on 7, then put Brussouw on 8, that gives him a lot more freedom to move out from behind the scrum, and we get to use Spies and Russouws' strength in the scrum, making it even more formidable (spelling??)

The thing is spies should at least twice a game pick up and drive from a set scrum.....

Also the Flankers are suppose to put pressure on the opposing nr10 and thats a bit harder to do from the back of the scrum. Also Spies is large thus steadying the scrum a lot more than someone like brussouw would. Also IMO we would get the most of spies' power when he is nr8 at the back of the set scrum.

Good points

Well we'll have to wait and see this comming weekend, I will be watching the game in durbs (talk about a screwed up logistics, when they played in durbs, I was in pta, and now when they play in pta, I'll be in durbs)

Still have to tell the wife, that I have decided we are not comming back from durbs, and sold the return tickets, but she loves me, and am pretty sure she'll understand, or keep the punches more in the stomach area where people cant see the damage

Lol :D

Yeah must say I was impressed by our scrumming and with the fact that (in the 1st half) our loose forwards were doing their jobs :)

 I have to say I think PDV nearly cost us that one ,Who in their right mind takes off the capt, the best front ranker in the match ,the most devastating lock in world rugby ,and our chief destroyer at the breakdown

that was too close for comfort

I must say he admitted he screwed up by bringing on the whole bench in about 10 mins... So at least he knows he screwed up :)

The boks played well for the first 60 minutes, then lost their way after that!

It looked like there was more lions supporters than Boks supporters? Has anybody noticed this? It was red all over!
I believe that +- 40000 British Lions supporters are in the country.
They could easily afford the ticket prices. "R1140-00" a ticket.
I believe the attendance at Absa Stadium was 48000 people.
48000 x R1140-00 = R54720000-00. Even if you take 40000 x R1140-00
= R45600000-00. SA Rugby made a killing!!! I wonder who 's putting some
money in their own pockets?
