Odwa beats Nokwe purely because he offers the 'whole package' .... and I'd rather have that than just someone who, if he gets given the ball, can do a doff dash (so called because he doesn't have the same dodging ability as JP or Habana). Anyway, Odwa has some pretty speedy legs too ;)

I can not wait for this game on Saturday!

I hope Olivier retains his form of the S14 season and Fourie runs everything :D

Explosive backline to say the least!

I hope we run them off their feet.

Goooo bokke!

There has been lots of talk about Schalk Burger's "eye gouging"....

Schalk has now spoken out and it seems the Lions may be the ones with egg on their faces (and I suppose some of us who also used the term gouging). Apparently the verdict of the citing judiciary was that Burger was reckless, but there was no intent to gouge Fitzgerald’s eye. Burger was found guilty of committing an act contrary to good sportsmanship by making contact with Fitzgerald’s face.

Now the Lions have made such a big thing of of Schalk deliberately gouging that it will be interesting to see if they apologise.

Further to this some interesting pictures have surfaced of what appears to be O'Driscoll trying to "eye gouge" what appears to be Bakkies. Add to this his armless tackle that took out Roussouw and the whinging Brits are not such an innocent party in this battle.

Yip, same old same old. I stand by my original theory and that is well done PDV for standing up for your players, well done PDV for showing some balls and not bowing to public opinion..

I saw this being discussed somewhere else (either keo or timesonline) and I can't believe that people are saying they want to see video of the incident because the picture isn't proof enough

Ha ha and I equally so still stand by my opinion that it is not for the coach to make comments about the guilt of a player before the judicial process has taken it's course. The problem is he said straight out that he felt eye gouging was part of the game! He did not comment on what Burger did being part of the game.

"Why don't we all go to the nearest ballet shop, get some nice tutus and get some great dancing going on," he said. "No eye-gouging, no tackling, no nothing. Then enjoy."

No matter which way you try and spin it, what he said was wrong! There is no place for eye gouging on a rugby field!

If he had defended Bakkies then that would have been a different issue. There is definitely place for clearing of the rucks and mauls in rugby. He focussed his defence on the wrong player!

I think what he said was taken out of context, something so typically and frequently done by the media. Anyway I've commented on this in depth already, let's put it to bed...

"Eye-gouging is something that we, as a team, will never be part of," he said. "The same applies to biting, head-butting, spear tackling or any other foul play that doesn't belong in the game.

"My comments on Saturday were based on what I know of Schalk Burger as a player and not on what occurred. It was never my intention to suggest that I condone foul play. That is the last thing I would ever do and I apologise for creating any other impression."

Yup he should have done what majority of coaches do and say nothing on the topic. There is no need to look like a fool by saying eye gouging is part of rubgy. What about picking a player up and dropping him on his head, this is a contact sport FFS expect to lose an eye and break your neck, contact sport i said.

Aha, you sneakily went back and edited your post! ;)

Well, yes, those were his comments after being forced by SARU to apologise for his original stupid comments. Even then Burger still got an eight week ban so obviously he was not totally innocent.

I still feel it is not for the coach to make comments on matters of foul play until some investigating has been done. His comments were straight after the match. He should have just said that they will review the matter and comment later. Shooting his mouth off got him into trouble.

...but we are obviously never going to convince each other. Besides the damage to SA rugby has been done....

Hehehehe

Yar but my post count is not that high for someone who has been on this forum so long :D
Yeah right, you averaging around 13 posts a day for 4.5years? That's a pretty good effort.

I know you like debating but you been doing a lot of mass debating over the last 4.5 years Killa!!:p

Did Schalk not confuse Luke Fitzgerald with Luke Watson.

He never bothered to learn last names. Just heard that he is playing against Luke and he went for the kill. :D
