Cricketers make more than that.

I'm sure the top rugby okes make over 4 million a year.

Yeah easily with sponsors.

Also cricket has a slightly larger audience world wide than rugby thus they get paid more from the sponsors / team owners. Their pay from SA Cricket and SA rugby are more or less the same at top level IIRC :)

Nice one. Would have been ready for the Soccer Confed Cup. How ironic that the first major game to be played at the new stadium is a RUGBY game!!! My PE office is on the other side of the lake....

The risk of it not being completed due to the roof being imported was too great.
FIFA already had an experience in Germany in 2005 where they completed works on a stadium on the opening day, so they were not looking for the same scenario.

I don't think its weird for it to host rugby. It would be weird only if our PSL matches had decent crowds.

Looking at that training squad again.

There is not one real fullback there. Where is Stefan Terblanche?
This probably means Rose will play fullback for this practice match and when the Bulls are finished with the Super 14 Zane Kirchner will be named as # 15.
My personal choice would have been Stefan.
I am really confused now as to what Snorre has in mind . He might play Jaque Fourie or JP Pietersen at 15??? Fourie is getting married so he will not be playing the practice match

Stefan, while a good player, is old.

I agree but if this guy is playing the best rugby in his position he should be picked. The tour is only a few weeks long and im sure he wont be walking with a cane by that time :p

Lions double blow

Jerry Flannery is out of the tour after chipping a bone in his left elbow. No replacement yet. Either Rory Best or Ross Ford.

Quinlan also out after his appeal for 12 week ban was dismissed. Tom Croft replaces him.

---------

I rated Flannery. Very good and very physical player. Lions will miss him but Rory Best is a very good replacement.
Tom Croft is just as dangerous.

Wel thats always the thing these days the seasons are so long you basically have a 0.000001% chance of playing your best side.

I can already hear the Lions supporters after the 3-0 defeat to SA.

"But we could not play our best squad."

Well join the club dudes. If it was not for injuries. We would have fielded Butch James, CJ van der Linde and just because he can, Os du Randt.

And they have 3 countries to choose from.

Maybe Morne Steyn will prove us wrong. If he gets picked that is.

Hoping so but something tells my he will struggle on the big stage for a while before really performing 100%.

But he has done great this season and I hope he atleast gets a chance.
