The Golden Lions last night were just purely pathetic. :(

According to John Robbie on 702 this morning, PdV pulled Earl Rose from the squad. He asked the coaching staff to start him but they put him on the bench...

I wasn't impressed by the B & I Lions though, still look like a group of individuals rather than a team.

I must say that The Lions was really pathetic in defense but the B&I Lions ran good lines and played 50x better than they did against the Royals. If they improve like this every week we are in for a surprise when the Tests arrive.

Cheetahs will be slightly tougher (I hope)

But never fear - WeePee are playing them. :)

I am very impressed by Jamie Roberts. Whoever will be playing centre for the Boks will have their work cut out for them.

Southern Kings teamlist

Would you look at this team for the Southern Kings.

Tiger Mangweni
Vuyo Zangqa
Rudi Coetzee
De Wet Barry
Wylie Human
Mike Catt
Neil de Kock
Darren Nel
Solly Tyibilika(captain)
Trevor Hall
Ross Skeate
Mpho Mboyosi
BJ Botha
Hanyani Shimange
Daan Human.

Replacements:
Gary Botha
Faan Rautenbach
Lungile Payi
Robbie Diack
Josh Fowles
Mzwandile Stick
Brent Russell.

So what happened to giving developing players a run?

There is some serious comebacks in this squad. Barry, Catt, Hall.

Gonna be interesting to see what they can come up with.

BJ Botha! Still think he should be a Bok for the Lion's tour.

A lot of Sevens players there mixed with some really old toppies. Its not such a bad squad but yeah, doesn't say much for that line they kept pushing about it being the province where SA's talent is groomed.

At least they have a shiny new stadium to play in:D

I am looking forward to see Gary Botha back in action. He played pretty good at Harlequins until he got injured. Also glad to see BJ there. Darren Nel and Robbie Diack is also not too shabby.

Looks like all the "developing" "talented" players are sevens players. Although I like sevens and the players, the 15-man game is a totally different game. They will definitely have some good runs if the game is loose, but when the game turns tight they will be useless.

:D One of the comments on Sport24 article :D

After much deliberation we have come up with a Lion's team to play the Southern Spears. 15. Gavin Hastings 14. Rory Underwood 13. Jeremy Guscott 12. Ian McGeechan 11. JPR Williams 10. Phil Bennett 9. John Robbie 8. Mike Teaugue 7. Peter Winterbottom 6. Lawrence Dallaglio 5. Bill Beaumont 4. Martin Johnson 3. Fran Cotton 2. Keith Wood 1. Tom Smith Reserves: 22: Andy Irvine 21: JJ Williams 20: Gareth Edwards 19:Niel Back 18: Niel Jenkins 17: Ieun Evans 16: Gregor Townsend. With this said, we think that this squad selected makes as much sense as what the Southern Spears currently do.

lol. Someone had a reunion and after a few dops some clever oukie said to the other oukies "come ouens, we can like to still play. I hear they have a new stadium down there PE way, lets sommer go play manne!"

I actually wish the Sevens players weren't there at all, being exclusive to the sevens Boks seems to have worked over the past 2 years. Would rather they keep winning there than play in a swak team and risk injuries.
