Feruz gone to OFI Crete.
Blackman gone to Middlesborough.

Overall, I'm very happy with our activity this window- reasoned, purposeful and most of all, very low net spending compared to the changes we have made.

Strengthened very well while being cost-effective. Can't see past you guys for the title at the moment*.

*Things will change if Falcao and Di Maria start banging in hattricks every game..

I think looking at the other big teams Chelsea has spent the best.
Good prices and invested in the actual positions we needed cover in. Not a single buy that does not make sense.

Well done to the team.

Very well done. Again, I must credit Michael Emenalo for turning out to be a pretty fantastic DoF.

From the start, I said the Chelsea squad looks the best and will probably be the team to beat

Results are certainly showing that - I actually am excited to watch them play apart from my own team

Despite the money that United have needed to spend- every player is a significant upgrade to the departments that they play in. And with LvG at the helm, United will be a force sooner rather than later (which does worry me).

One window was always going to be impossible to fix all areas that needed work, but tremendous job nevertheless.

I never thought that I would see that line in reference to Chelsea spending :D

Mourinho's second season factor, plus the very good window we had, and current form, and even I have to admit that it is hard to see past us. City have greater depth, and a more cohesive team, but they still seem to have a fragility about them that may prove costly this season.

The guy does get things done - Fab and Costa <3

And when he first came in, it seemed a very dodgy move as a whole- unproven, on seemingly buddy-buddy appointment. He has proven all the doubters (which included myself) wrong.

That is what the seller for me is - we have upgraded in the departments where we have bought, and World Class upgrades. Not just Prem wise, but in order to play amongst the giants in Europe, you need quality players in most departments rather then only one or two here and there

I love Mo and with that Chelsea side as string as it is right down to the bench being able to compete in the PL as a second team - you guys are gonna be hard to beat. City just look a pace behind for some reason

A key factor here, is that while United don't have CL football, they do have the season to bed in these players and build a system around them. Fleshing out the team next season with CL football on the horizon and a developed, cohesive system, is a frightening aspect to other teams.

What worries me about City is that they started slow last season as well, and in the end were close to unstoppable (games against Chelsea aside). Liverpool's superhuman efforts weren't enough to overcome them.

Soon Chelsea will be playing against everybody's reserves teams since all the first XI's are made up of Chelsea players on loan who are not eligable to play. :p

A lot of ex-Arsenal players are playing int he premier league. You'd think with some goodwill that grumpy Frenchman could get a few favours and win a title.

Did you even read my post? Since Torres arrived we had Drogba for 6 months then afterwards Torres was our main striker for 2 seasons. Why did none of our striker have more than 20 goals you say Well that's because Torres was our only striker! Sturridge never played up front for us and Ba was mainly a sub. We were legit giving minutes to only Torres and he squandered it all. Now lets look at last season, we had a 33 year old Eto'o who suffered many injury lay offs and got 9 in 21 while Torres got 5 in 28. Demba Ba with his numerous last minute appearances got 5 in 19. Torres was useless. Let me point out another stat. 2011-12 season Sturridge got 11 goals out of 30, from the wing and from sub appearances, wanna know Torres' record, up front? 6 out of 32, where he started a lot of them.

Now let us move away from Chelsea and look at Spain to further enhance my point. THis was a team that was built around Torres and Villa since 08. He had passing maestros in Iniesta, Xavi and Xabi all behind him from 08 up til now, let's see how he faired. No point talking about 08 and 2010 since those were his Liverpool years, let's look at 2012 Euros and 2013 confed cup.

2012: Joint top scorer with 6 other people with 3 goals, only player who made it as far as him on the list is Balotelli., a few didn't even make it out of the group stages! Let's see his opponents 2 against Ireland and 1 against Italy in a game where the opponents defence collapsed completely.
2013: Joint top scorer with Fred with 5 goals, let's see his opponents. 4 against Tahiti, a team Spain beat 10 - 0 and 1 against Nigeria a team they beat 3-0.

Are you still going to hold on to your beliefs? If you seriously believe Torres' only problem was our system then you are a fool and there's literally no arguing with you Torres apologists who refuse to see how w@nk Torres was ever since he moved clubs, pining all the blame on everyone else but himself is absurd.

Dammit Helg, I didn't see your post for some reason. Will comment on it when I have a chance.

EDIT: You know, after thinking a bit and finding some time, I don't need to say much really. Torres' problems were somewhere between our views on him, to be honest. He was poor, injuries ruined him, and it was exacerbated by how completely different Chelsea's style of play was. He changed in an attempt to fit in, but the damage had already been done.

It's a shame, really- he could have been fantastic for us. But the gamble taken was too high. He will always be part of some pretty special memories- that goal vs Barca first and foremost- but ultimately, he will always be the symbol of why buying players for non-footballing reasons is the worst idea imaginable.

There was an excellent article done on Torres just after he joined Milan, which discusses the same points we did:
