I wonder if Mourinho will continue to play Oscar at no 10 though.

We have really played some fantastic football this season, and it will only get better once the midfield really gels. To not only come from a goal down against a very good Swansea team, but to do it in the manner in which we did, was excellent. Costa got all the plaudits (deservedly), but Hazard was unplayable yesterday. His build up for that fourth goal was sumptuous.

Roll on the CL :)

Defense is the only worry.

Mourinho is not the type to think like that.
He's worried about the defense ... guaranteed.

Reading this comment, come to realise that most of the "Top" team have defensive issues. Pool, Utd, Arsenal and now apparently Chelsea. I say apparently, can't judge or comment, because didn't watch enough Chelsea games. Once again can't comment on City, but they lost to Stoke and drew against Arsenal. But then again Arsenal scored some nice goals.

There's been a discussion that Jose's trying something different and pre-season is proof of that. He's playing Iva in a more advanced role. Iva is tactically smart he's not all of a sudden going to keep hanging around in the box as much as he has been doing lately. Same thing in pre-season. Jose is trying something new, probably a way to break down those defences we had trouble with last season (even though we also have Costa now). I rate in big matches like City this Sunday Iva is going to be more reserved.

Aaah. Yeah that would make sense.

Yep- his ability to press from the front is invaluable to the team.

Defense is the only worry.

Such is the nature of pressing football, that it does leave us exposed. But the defence is improving- technically, Swansea only scored the one goal, and I felt Courtois could have done better to save it (he went to ground too early for my liking). As he becomes accustomed to the pace of the league, he will be fine.

I dunno- remember his goal against City last season? Interestingly enough, he is one of the best finishers we have in the squad.

I just feel sorry for Felipe Luis. A proper left back that can adequately support Hazard on the left, but he is being kept out by two very good players. Suppose it's a good problem to have.

I have to say I'm looking forward to all the cups starting as well.
That way we get to see the fringe players in action as well.
Filipe Luis, Remy, Cech, Salah, Zouma, Drogba.

Not only that, but a change in personnel and setup gives us a different approach to enjoy.

I'm really looking forward to our run of fixtures coming up. Nothing like important games to get the juices really flowing.

Still amazed by how little we've spent on defense.

Azpi - 7ish million
Branna - 9.7 million
Courtois - 7ish million
Cahill - 7 million

Our defense scouts are bloody amazing.

Yep, only Felipe Luis was a bit pricey. But overall, an excellent job.

Spot on analysis about Fabregas' weakness. That's why I see a 3-man midfield with Ramires coming in against City, like we did against Everton.

in other news Schalke are missing 3 of their first team CB's and have not won a game this season. They got pounded 4-1 over the weekend and lost to a league two side in the cup.
