Wanted a point, got a point.

Frank's goal hurt, but... he really is the living embodiement of "form is temporary, class is permanent". He always came up with the goods when he played for us and it's not surprising at all that he came up with the goods in such an important match now - despite being on the opposing side. Legend.

Oh yeah, this means he breaks the record for number of Premier League sides scored against (39) for Frankie Lampard. Well done to the man.

Do you really think Pool are in with a shout for the top four? they are really handling the extra fixtures badly, not to mention the loss of Suarez.

I think they will always be mentioned as that regardless (for now anyway)

Frank Lampard- what class. I think he was more upset by scoring the equaliser than I was. Loved his post-match interview- referring to City as "this club". :D

A point is what I would have taken, and I am happy with it. Mangala was exceptional- what a player. Felt that the ref was ridiculously card happy.

My thoughts: We were once again poor defensively. For their goal Schurlle misses the run of Milner and Iva misses the run of Lampard, Mikel also does nothing, poor. They go down to 10 and we just sit back and give them all the space in the world? We don't even press. Remy should've come on for Drogba. Passing was very poor the entire game, the only attack we had was through set pieces and that one counter. I am actually very disappointed with that whole display.

For posterity:

Manchester City and former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard on Sky Sports: "It's a really difficult one. I'd be unprofessional if I came on and didn't do my job so I'm mixed with it.
"I'm obviously pleased that the side I came on for got a draw. It's come up, I'm a professional and I didn't expect to come on and score. I'm stuck in the middle.
"The Chelsea fans were singing my name and it was an emotional day. It's not how I expected to say goodbye to the Chelsea fans. I woke up this morning and didn't know what I wanted from today so I'm glad it's out of the way. I guess this a happy medium."

Agreed. Fabregas was a passenger, Ramires offered little overall, and Ivan again was too narrow for the goal. Lampard would have won it had he not hit it half-heartedly, after Milner again had space on the right.

No idea why we're throwing on Drogba. He does not look like half the player he was.
We have a very talented Remy now so why not give the dude a go?

They played how Morinho told them to play. they all did their jobs. I doubt Branna wanted to be that narrow, but it was obvious that he had instructions. Fabregas is always a passenger when ti comes to defending.

All in all, I'm not too sure why people are up in arms about this match... A nice run out for Drogs getting back to fitness, Costa will be rested against BWFC and Remy will get his chance then. We played defensively and got a point against arguably the best side in the EPL over the last 4/5 seasons.

I'm sure we will open up against the smaller teams and manage to knock in enough goals to win. We might not do that well in the Champions League, but then again... I don't really care. I want that league title back in our hands and we are going about it the right way.

I really do think that the board have put league titles on the top priority list after having gotten that elusive Champions League. Which is the way it should be.

I'm not complaining about the result. It was a hard fought draw against the team I have had as favourites since the beginning, at their home ground. We were never going to repeat the win we achieved earlier this year, Pellegrini is too smart to allow that to happen.

We've already shown that against other teams we can open up and annihilate them- and Mourinho was spot on with his tactics yesterday. It's why he is such a regular winner, because he isn't afraid to adapt.

For all their possession (which was not as much as I expected), they only forced two saves from Courtois.

+1
Me thinks it was a good match. Milner was running Schurrle ragged but Schurrle can be forgiven because he scored off a beautiful run. Glad to see Drogba getting a run out and working on that match fitness. I'm also glad the win streak is over as that comes with its own unnecessary pressure

I don't understand why you are being so hard on Fab and Ramires. Fab was trying to be everywhere trying to cover, In my opinion he worked harder than what Hazard did. Hazard had some good runs going forward but other than that he was kept quite. It was two fantastic midfields counter acting one another. so Fab and Ramires would be hard pressed just like Silva, Toure and Fernadinho were. With that type of pressing game it was going to get a little bit more open in the latter stages of the game as players tired.

Also thought that Mangala had an exceptional game. Quick and powerful and seemed to know his lines even though he hasn't played that much for Man City yet. What a defense at the back now for Man city with Kompany, Zabaletta and Mangala. If Mangala kept playing like that I would have him over Demechelis any day of the week.

I think Ramires had a good game and did what he was asked to do.
Remember that excellent save of his that almost certainly saved a goal?
