Oh, and colour me impressed by the restraint Adrian Durham put into this article. Considering that he is quite the Arsenal hater, it's a very rational and concise piece.

I see that Sanchez definitely did punch Ivanovic, which was missed by the ref. Hopefully some retrospective action takes place here. Disgusting.

But there is something about Ivanovic that attracts these nutters. First Suarez, now Sanchez.

That was not really a punch but more of a frustrated hand off. You can see that Sanchez is quicker in turning than ivanovic, so basically Ivanovic makes sure that Sanchez cannot turn to get the ball by handling him whilst turning - hence the reason for the frustrated push out/hand off from Sanchez.

The reason why Ivanovic gets under all these players skin is because he is like the Richie McCaw of football. He has this really good way of producing frustrating niggles at players of which he constantly gets away with. Saying that though, he must be one of my favourite defenders in world football. No nonsense, big frame and powerful and quick for his size and can cross a mean ball as well.

Chelsea did deserve to win the game.

Harry Redknapp mauls a fan who questions Frank Lampard

PWNED! And he was so accurate it is scary. A Google search reveals Scotty Canham scored 18 goals and moved around the lower divisions and Matt Holland did indeed drop down to the First Division, regroup and turn into a pretty solid Premier Leauge player for Ipswich and Charlton. As for Lampard, well. . .

Really? It's a full on punch, the only reason it didn't really seem like much was because Ivanovic was moving away from the ball, and he has dealt with worse :)

Sunday actually had me understand why Mourinho keeps playing him- despite his occasional brain farts, he is the most solid and committed defender we have.

Not to take anything away from Mourinhos achievements but in some ways hes been lucky with his timing. His first spell at Chelsea came at a time when both Arsenal and United were in a slump and he left more or less the same time United were getting back to the top. His second stint is similar in many ways with Ferguson retiring.

He came in when Arsenal had completed their invincible season, but United definitely weren't at their best. But I think that during his first spell, the top four teams were a lot closer than they are now.

You could argue that when Mourinho left, Chelsea were also weakened due to the constant managerial merry-go-round that took place at the club, not to mention Arsenal cutting costs after moving into the Emirates and Liverpool being Liverpool. So I think it's a case of all things being equal over time.

So, as you guys know, I'm quite the fan of Oscar, due to his immense work rate, and awesome abilities both in attack and defence. This article, though, does a pretty good job in further articulating the impact he has within the team and the way they perform. A good read, which highlights his contributions a lot better than I have.

That's just one big excuse.

Liar. You probably wrote that piece and used us as sounding boards.

EDIT: I would love to see Matic's passing stats form last season, since it seems to me that he makes less flashy passes than he did last season (basically being told to give it to Cesc). He is criminally underrated in the passing department.

Also, I'm not that surprised by the TFIB numbers of Oscar and how they relate to Matic. what is surprising is that HE finds them surprising. Mou loves Oscar because he'll do Matic's job much further ahead where Matic simply never goes. Having those two knicking the ball off you before you've come close to the middle circle is a big part of why our defence has improved so much. Matic's would be a lot higher if Cesc was playing in Oscar's position (for example).
