Liar. You probably wrote that piece and used us as sounding boards.

I wish :p

EDIT: I would love to see Matic's passing stats form last season, since it seems to me that he makes less flashy passes than he did last season (basically being told to give it to Cesc). He is criminally underrated in the passing department.

Also, I'm not that surprised by the TFIB numbers of Oscar and how they relate to Matic. what is surprising is that HE finds them surprising. Mou loves Oscar because he'll do Matic's job much further ahead where Matic simply never goes. Having those two knicking the ball off you before you've come close to the middle circle is a big part of why our defence has improved so much. Matic's would be a lot higher if Cesc was playing in Oscar's position (for example).

Hopefully this does for now. Also, a good article on his role vs Arsenal.

I do agree- Matic's passing is severely underrated. Even with Cesc around, he still has the ability to pick very good forward passes. The mesh of Cesc-Oscar-Matic is one that will be key to how well we do this season. The great thing about that, is that one is no more important than the other, they just each have very specific roles.

That's so little, gotta remember though he hasn't extended his contract since first signing.

Still... to think we signed a Brazilian star number ten (at the time) for 24 million pounds and only gave his that kind of a salary boggles the mind.

Shows you how much of an impact third-party ownership made towards his transfer fee.

Still, it's pleasing to know that our wage bill is lower than Arsenal's :D

So what was the Chelsea wage bill in the 2014 financial year?

Officially? I wish I could find it. Best I can find is that it's been kept static with the likes of Lampard, Cole, Luiz and Torres leaving.

Chelsea normally announce their financials at the end of the year, so I'll have a proper figure for you then.

Also there's the small fact that you have about an entire squad's worth of players out on lone and off the wage bill.
