on a serious note, I notice a few of you guys are speed rifters, maybe I'm missing something but what's the point of ripping through a rift like there's no tomorrow?

Is it just a play style thing, as I'm quite content to clear a whole rift before moving on to the next one?

Some people have very limited time and must get their efficiency up
Some people have lots of time but love being ultra efficient

Personally (I'm sure some people will say I'm too fast) I try stay with the group (or charge off to explore potential dead ends), and will skip a mob here and there. Killing a single mob is too much effort and then you're possibly dead in the water at the next elite pack and then you die and thats not fun. So I dont think I'm too fast but to each his own

I presume it's people farming for shards.

I enjoy rifting with most guys here but what irks me to no end is when players rush and skip monsters and keep going. Just kill everything in your path as you go, the guys behind always need to clean up the rushers mess and its very annoying for me, dunno about the rest of u.

We normally clear the rifts completely but I for one do try do it as quickly as possible.

I have max a couple hours to play a day, and that's skipping things like watching series/movies etc and a lot of other things. Pushing to go fast means I can do 6 rifts instead of 4 rifts a night for example, a big difference if you looking for gear and have limited game time.

It's just part of the min/max'er mindset. :D

Yeah, different strokes I guess.

I also prefer it when a the party sticks together (max melting power) and cleans up everything.

It's quite disconcerting when one or two people wander/rush off into the depths - kinda defeats the point of being in a party

Can relate to the limited time issue but I've found that when I start getting into that zone the personal fun/enjoyment factor seems to drop for me...

I have alot of rift fragments, so I dont mind reopening. I dont have the space to keep them, and if you complete the rift, you get XP, Gold and F souls alot faster. Also it minimizes backtracking, which = more Legs

That is the most efficient way if you doing the right torment level of your group.

The issue is that some people dont run a movement skill, so in between mobs they get left behind if the others in the group have one. Even so, unless there is someone who is running below their normal T-level this is seldom a real problem, you will always catch up before the pack is killed. I have dps and survivability skills that would be really useful, but I'll opt for the mobility skill every time.

If I do T4, running alone in a party of 4 is completely useless, unless its a really barren rift and I'm just looking for elite backs to bring back to the rest of the party.

Although I dont do it, I do agree with Pixel too that there are a lot of people with loads of fragments so closing the rift right after the guardian is the best way. Blood shards are just the best way to get that last set item piece you looking for...

Blizz being Blizz means that they created the Rift counter making all mobs killvalue equal. ie the movement in your progression bar from killing a shadow vermin will be the same as killing a mallet lord. I dunno about you, but I'd rather kill a pack of 15 vermin in one shot over the slugfest of killing a pack of mallet lords.

2.1 will fix this.

Mallet Lords / Gorgons / etc are like broccoli/brussel sprouts on your plate - some people force themselves to eat them, others leave them and move onto the other stuff

:D

I go with the flow - if I'm joining a rift, then I go with style of the person who is leading the rift. If I've started the rift, I expect them to go along with the mood that I'm in for that session :D

 btw, I've noticed a marked decrease in Wings of Valour the last few nights

Kadala may strongly disagree with u :p

hehe, for sure.

There was a streamer who set a challenge for himself to get a T6 WD with full jades set bonus in 6 hours. He did it with a few minutes to spare. He didnt play with his WD at all. All he did was farm shards with his potent T6 capable wizard and spent them with his WD...

The rich get richer ...

Basically you need to get really lucky a couple of times, and then you can make your own luck...

Hmm.. Broccoli has a nutritional value, so I would say that those big packs are closer to ground. Enough ground can prob give you the nutrients needed but the volume it takes makes it unfeasible. Rather eat those tjoppies and braai breads, and roll the dice more often!

TL; DR
Ground is slow.
Tjops are fast.

We'll get there eventually :D

It really does not take much to run T5 quite efficiently as a group. We've even been carrying a person or so with.
(There is quite a leap to T6, specially solo & some classes just have a way harder time. Blizzard will eventually make a proper pass on all classes)

You just need ppl or even 1 person with some control and others bring the dps if you don't have a group who can fully hold their own solo.
I have never seen dmg as the issue on higher torments, but rather survivability.
