Right - So I am dual-wielding.

I am thinking about giving my offhand weapon a 600 LoH Gem.

Does HotA alternate?

I've read it does, but I'd prefer not to drop 5 million on a gem unless I know this for sure...

Is this a sensible thing to do?

I wouldn't gem for LoH if you are using HotA, it will be more effective to try lifesteal since its an AOE attack. I may have a semi decent LS weapon I can give you, so that you can try out what the LS option will be like. If you like it, I can see you easily dropping all those vit gems for str - MOAR damage

But for clarity on LoH, it doesnt matter where its from (main hand vs off hand etc), it will count towards every attack you make.

edit: and a quick note about followers, all res is wasted on them. Rather just go vit/primary stat - its multiplied by 4 iirc on them.

Copa just to add to this, HotA has a fixed amount of Fury per use, which I'm sure you know, but the reason I mention is due to the potential damage differential between a 1h and 2h. If you go with LoH and aren't min-maxing damage, then a 1h would be fine, but with LS where you get life back for the damage you do, a 2h may be better.

HotA aslo doesn't appear to be affected by AS, so you won't get more attacks off dual wielding, as opposed to a 2h.

With that out the way, dual wielding should provide a better stream of Fury when you really need it, due to the increased AS.

Ultimately it seems as though the choice is made on primary attack though... I'm also left wishing for a little quicker swing every now and then.

Not to make you feel bad but my first guess would have been around 20-25 mil.

High Prim stat for WD, socket, almost perfect roll on crit chance, and a bit of Vit with very good damage for an off hand....

Next time do a quick search for something with more or less the same stats and see what a couple of them are going for.

Always look up the legendary to see what rolls it gets, that's normally what I do first, then you can tell if you really got something special. Ukhapian Serpent

Looking at that your 2 random rolls were a socket and a Int/Vit roll. The socket I would say is average, but the int/vit roll is pretty good. (A strength roll or something is what I would call a bad roll). You did also get a high roll on the damage roll you got 110-415 and the possible range is (32-130)–(33-484) Damage. I think you did undersell it a bit.

You can get lucky with drops and you can also get lucky with the AH. Last night I was browsing through the nats rings again, looked through the list, refreshed the search and a new ring had just got listed. High damage roll and a close to max all res roll (79). It was stupidly under priced at 20mil, would have basically cleaned me out but I still went for the buyout instantly...alas I was too slow, someone else already picked it up.

I was having issues, yes, but I swapped out a router to solve them, no issues now (aside from the occasional 3006).

Just about 300% with my NV stacks @ 5.

Yes, I need a challenging baseline from which to operate. I feel that MP3 is the minimum you want to work from to do key runs, and I will stick to act 1, until I can upgrade to act 2, etc, etc.

As it happens, I upgraded my crit damage gem in either weapon to 80%, and swapped out the Fury Regen passive for the 3% life steal one. Act 1 MP3 is now close to a cakewalk.

Just need to work on defense and resists, and get the max crit gems, and some life steal from another source, and I will be good.

Getting 400K crits now with HotA, which sucks up quite a bit of health.

The other thing with this build is I actually need to concentrate - It's not just smash hit, need to keep an eye on fury, and what I am activating when, etc.
