Yeah - same experience - being capped now by cost of upgrades - anything more than minor incremental is in the billions range and even then, not always a big boost.

I'm actually pretty happy with my CM Wiz (wouldn't mind more dps but my freeze ability works pretty well at MP10) - my DH is comfy at MP8.

That said, both my toons serve more as 'support / crowd control' (wiz via freeze; DH via stun) rather than out and out damage dealers.

My DH is sitting on 250K DPS unbuffed. To even get 1000 more DPS is like 300mill at least

I've given up surfing around the AH to be honest. My gold figure isn't even into double figures in terms of millions. (3.6m at last check). I just run around now in the hope of picking up something quality. Still, it's the thrill of the chase that keeps me coming back I guess...

I would love to start the game up and play it knowing if a leg drops even if its only 1 in 3 hours , that its going to be a uber good item

They've said it won't be before, but that doesn't mean it's going to be directly after either. I've read some dev posts where they have said that the next patch will be a big update, they don't want to do it in bits and pieces, so it'll be done when it's done, which could be forever.

As far as I understand, the ITEM patch won't be before Blizzcon.

This does not stop other patches, surely?

That really depends. With big updates, means there's more space for **** ups and other changes that will alienate lots of players all at once. This doesn't happen with smaller updates.

I think the reason they're doing it is so that they have something to announce for Diablo at Blizzcon, since the console stuff is already done and we won't get an expansion for at least another 1.5-2.5 years (I have no idea why any one thinks it would be sooner than that).
