Have not been able to play lately. Turns out that real life is HardCore :(
My fiancee's mom passed away with no warning on Wednesday morning... Not sure I'll be able to get online in the foreseeable future.

So sorry bro, - Strength to all of you.

Ive come to the sad conclusion that magicfind boosts your chances of gettting yellows quite a bit, but does sweet blue buggerall for your chances of legendaries. The stuff that drop are 99.99999% of the time rubbish. So one is better off rather focussing on gold find

At Pl81, and farming on MP10, legs drop like flies.

95% of them are crap, but I get a lot of 'em.

And that is what can be politely called, a completely and totally incorrect conclusion.

No, yellows drop more frequently with increased mf due to the maths. The change in % drops for legs are pretty much irrelevant with higher mf. Hence more mf = significantly more yellows but not a similar increase in legs

I think the AH is fine ... ( diablo 2 had forum AH or websites ) but the problem is the RMAH buying gold ... made gold that drop ingame useless u cannot farm enough gold to use on the AH so its pointless if we just had the AH and only could use gold that droped from the game and made via AH it will be way more stable like HC

Now we have the RMAH that made our AH gold turn to uter useless crap:p

Don't get me wrong, I love the AH and have been trading quite a lot in D2 as well... What I meant is from day one a lot of people complained about the AH (that was even before the RMAH was launched!). And to some extend, it is to blame for items that you may think is good be worth relatively nothing on AH. There are hundreds of similar items being listed at throw away prices already, while on a forum based trading only the best ones may be listed. And people did get away with selling not so good items because most people just do not bother to sell stuff.

During D2 people could use real money to buy items as well, and did. So for that argument the RMAH is just another easy platform to trade.

Regarding gold in D2, it had absolutely no value a part from paying repair costs. You traded good items for other good items, or gems, etc.

/facepalm

More MF = more legends. Its as simple as that. Did I say yellows wouldnt drop more too? Nope. But the legends dropped will increase exactly according to your MF (over a large enough sample of course so that true averages are represented)

What you wrote after that shows you lack the basic understanding of how MF works. Read here and you'll see why you are wrong

I dont care what that post says, cant even open it at work. From close to a 500hrs spent on the game I know what the reality is from my own experience. Im happy to accept that it contradicts what i think and have experienced myself

Archer is correct - hence the higher rate of leg drops in public MP10 or group MP10 games 'cos you get the additional team bonus as well.

Need to get wiz up to some higher plevels now.

Dammit, need to roll an intelligence HF with AS and CHC - that plus ruby would be :D

LOL - rak, we don't flame in this thread - just nice well reasoned scientific based disagreements.

See you online

Ok well then its my perception.

Slap on 400% mf and yellows rain like candy, but seemingly no change in legs dropping

You should care, unless you dont want good gear.

The link shows that when an item drops the following happens (in order)
Rolls for the item to be a legend
If not, rolls to be a 6 affix rare
If not, rolls to be a 5 affix rare
etc until it reaches the end of the line and you get a white item

So since the roll for a legend is first in the queue, it gets the most direct impact from MF, and therefore legends drops will scale exactly linearly with MF. What it also implies is that less white and blues will drop, since the chance for a successful roll higher up in the chain is greater.

Now sure, you could gear for GF instead. In which case I'll take your lifetime kills of roughly 180k. How many of them drop gold? I'd estimate 1 in 4 (probably less). And how much gold do they drop? I feel like 3000 gold on average is a good number (for someone at nearly max GF). So, assuming you are at max GF since your first kill, you would have roughly 135mil... Not that much at all really wouldnt you say? Whereas if you had gone for max MF, on average, a player with your amount of kills would have had around 400 legends (using accepted legend drop rates), nevermind all the 5 and 6 affix yellows. This will almost certainly give you a much better return
