Thanks ;)
Salvaging and auctioning works quite well for gearing up

Yes it does! made over 1M this way already. Take note however that Nightmare mats does not sell! But you can sell some of the pages if the market is not saturated.

And Second HC monk bites the dust, again at around level 32... This time 5k health to 0 in less than 1 Sec, 4 arcane sentries dropped below my feet in a doorway :( Not even enough time to press my get-out-of-jail-free skill....
Doubled the monk's HP from the first monk, but you need a lot more than just HP, it seems... And no Resist all gear for level 30-40 of note.

Got HC normal now down to an art, leveled the last monk to 30 in under 5 hours (no boosting). My bane is still Nightmare difficulty (at least with the monk, since my barb is hacking and slashing through act 2 Nightmare just fine).

Ouch.

Hardcore is brutal.

Monks are a lot more squishy than barbs. All I can think of is try life steal with the reflect damage aura... IIRC if it is still up you will gain hp even when frozen and the skill is triggered. (Sorry can remember the name and not sure if it is available at lvl 30 )

Won't help against arcane sentry spam :-(

Also nearly lost my HC monk to arcane sentry waller last night in nightmare. Now running on MP1. Level 34. 4802 HP 1220 armor

werries, what skills are you running when you hit nightmare? Also movespeed is a must (at least 10% from somewhere)
I find thunderclap is too risky, deadly reach is much much better since you can hit stuff from far away (so molten, poison, and arcane to a certain extent are trivial). And take it slow in any tight areas. Waller arcane nearly caught me off guard in some or other cave, but if you know where you are running to all is good (having the bell to one shot mobs helps too :p)

:( That is not cool.

Ps what MP where you playing?

Only doing mp0 currently but with 4 people. Normal survival is not a problem, but being stuck in situations where sentries spawn on top of you while other AOE blurs the screen etc. is just not easy.

Playing barb, with just running in and slamming on rend, then kill the stuff is so much easier. My tactic with the monk may have been wrong though, I one hit kill most elites with my bell so I play perhaps a bit too aggressive...

Hence my terror - and that's only on normal.

Especially melee chars, hard to unlearn those SC habits.

Yea figured this is my problem currently. Got so used to playing barbarian over the last months, that the monk's tip toe fighting takes some getting used to.

Going out 90% attacking. 20% movement speed. Using the skill that teleport me closer, and slam a big bell on the mobs. 99% of the time mobs are dead after the bell, and if there are some surviving it is just a few swipes and they are clear (my sweeping wind usually takes care of that). It is an incredibly fast pace play style, and any lapse in concentration gets you killed.

Perhaps try some LoH on weapons? Else gear up on more armour :p

Perhaps as you say you play to aggressively. Perhaps take two defensive skills :)

Don't forget your health potions

The idea with HC is not to get in a situation where you need to use the health potion. And yes I did swallow one last night, saw my HP jump up briefly, but going from 5k hp to 0 in under a second does not leave a lot of room for potions (which takes ~400ms to register).

I feel that HC should be okay for me. Stacking Resist All and Armour was something I was doing on SC for quite some time, until I realised that pure DPS was just better on SC.

I decided to try out my CM wiz again last night and boy was I in for surprise. My Resist all was down to like 550 AFTER my shield was up and I have 21k base health, which is quite pathetic. So I need to look at that build again and see what I can do. I did do a run on my Barb though and got 1.5 plvls on it. Act 1 is quite simply the best for farming XP, but I find that the items are pretty bad and I did some reading and it seems that i63 items are way more likely to drop in Act 3 & Act 4, so I'm probably gonna give them a swing again.

I'm soloing on mp 1. Too risky going higher than that..
