Who cares about RMAH anyway? You can use it or not use it, your choice.

Well, the game is heavily designed to force you to use RMAH to get better items because item farming in D3 is very time-consuming and less rewarding  FU Blizzard. FU Jay Wilson.

Every good item you can buy in rmah was picked up by someone farming... (except the dupes and hax)
They aren't manufactured to make money for blizzard.

Item farming is suppose to be time consuming ;) Or do you intend to finish the game in an evening's play? If you have played D2 you would know that getting the best of the best gear took most people several years to obtain... (unless.... wait for it... they traded to get better gear...)
And if you are missing the cheats of single player D2 where you simply uploaded whatever gear you wanted and what level char you wanted, I suggest you go find another game that does not require any dedication to play.

Or if the RMAH is really bothering you, come play Hardcore ;) though if you really want even on HC you can use real money to go buy some gear...

How difficult is it to make a decent char on HC without using RMAH and having 100s of millions?

Quite difficult, to get a char with over 200k dps. Not eneugh high level people farming the end game to flood the market with cheap high end gear.

Considering you can put together a toon that can finish inferno (on 0 or low mp at least) for peanuts (In gold terms), I find the arguments that you're somehow being forced to use the RMAH hilarious.

The only real reason to use the RMAH is if you're trying to put together an absolute beast of a character with BIS items. Which is not 99% of players.
