Nearly lost my Monk last night as well :O were quite sleepy and have been standing in a gas cloud "again"... Life dropped to 2k (from 60k) before I noticed it was going down. Logged of there and then, HC is not for the sleepy...

I feel I'm gonna have to go through several hardcore iterations to get it right. Need more stash space to keep intermediate level gear. Costs money so need to farm a lot just to get that right...

Also picked up a legendary spirit stone just before I died. Didn't even get to identify it

I can tell you what worked for me as a monk -
The bell, with the rune that it costs 40 spirit (when available, otherwise use the extra damage rune which iirc is the first one). That with the passive for an extra 100 spirit and you're golden. Generally that meant I could kill an elite pack with 2-5 bells depending on how close they stand to each other, and still have plenty of spare spirit for those "oh shi..." moments. I used that healing spell until my HP was too high, serenity (obviously) and healing mantra with the extra HP regen rune until inferno. Not much can kill you between level 50-60 if you've got 750+ HP regen/s and you're killing elite packs within 5 seconds. Throw in blinding light and you've got an awesome (and crazy cheap) skill that gives you a 4 second window to either run, or kill the pack if things are going sideways

edit: also, a shield is your friend. The amount of vit it gives is amazing, and the amount of primary stat it can give means it can match the DPS of dual wield quite easily until level 60.
Oh, also, use reduced level req weapons from level 45 onwards!! It really makes levels 45-60 quite trivial

Yeah I was using bells + dmg, plus mantra of healing + extra healing rune. Had 72700 EHP and 2500DPS, so was pretty tanky.
Like I said, was cruising along quite happily till I had to pause the game in the middle of a fight with some arcane/wallers - and while I was paused I got DCd

I tend to relax as soon as a fight is over, and I guess I just forget that some effects linger after the death of the mobs. i.e. arcane/gas/etc

Agreed. Think I've done all I can (barring the luckiest of drops EVER... which I can't see happening). Bought the Command & Conquer pack on ... um... Origin *cough* for R89 and was reliving some of my earliest nostalgic gaming memories again.

Now I am levelling up a wiz but they are very weak early on. Nearly died last night in a run with Sinbad.

I don't play hardcore because of MTN lags a ***** load! anyway I played again last night with my Monk and got an idea on a build that could work great and never been done before, just need to get to level 60 asap...

I presume that it's an archon build. Can't see a CM Freeze build surviving HC.
