I got the phone today.

Must say I am very pleased so far.

I ordered a white phone, I got a Quick cover with phone aswell! but it is also white, would have been nice if I could choose a different color. Should probaly not complain. Just will show dirt quickly. ☺

Vodacom gave me an extra gift as well, extra car charger & wall charger.

The screen is wow...

Phone was almost fully charged.

Use this to check for updates for your phone / get latest firmware :

http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=yourimeinumberhere

Replace yourimeinumberhere with your device's IMEI number, which you can found in the about section.

This will be latest software for your phone.

If you want to install a custom firmware, at you own risk and voiding you warranty have a look here:

Any other comments, just ask.

How many more g2 threads do u want to start?

Not sure, did not see any other threads that talked about the phone experience. I saw a couple about deals. Should I have left my comments in them?

Something wrong talking about the phone experience?

Lovely phone, I just hope LG give it timely updates..

That is also a concern for me. I. Will know in six months, if I made the right decision.

I was dead set on getting a Sony Xperia Z1, but when I went and looked at the Phone I was very disappointed, that bezel! The Sony updates seem to me, to be getting very good. So is Samsung, they are the leader, but I already have a S2 and my wife has a S4, it is good but I was not blown away, not sure why though.

I knew the G2 was released but did not pay much attention to it. I. Then saw some online videos and comparisons which were decent. I then went to a store last week to have a look and feel of it. I liked it, very similar to S4 but different, I like different. :sly:

One thing that I must say is that it looks like most stores do not know about the phone and if you ask them about it they would tell you they would find out. Spoke to a colleague today and I did mention I got the phone and he is also due for un upgrade, he said he enquired about the phone at a store over the weekend and the sales person did not recommend the phone, rather a S4.

LG has mountain to climb to change peoples mind and that can only happen with very good support and Android updates overtime. So let's hope they deliver, I am positive so far.

Busy finding my way around the UI - i'm used to a CM ROMmed interface, so don't particularly like all the "easy to use" extra stuff loaded, but I knew it was coming so no shocker there.

Struggling to decide if I want to keep the case they gave me with it or not - hate having a case but protection is important too. I'm a little frustrated with the auto lock/unlock of the pouch's flap as it easily unlocks when the flap flips open slightly, but no biggy. I really enjoy the knock-knock feature.

The overall responsiveness of the experience is great

I curious to find out how CM runs on this beast... Are you considering flashing?

Yeah have been considering it - definitely waiting past the 7 day OBF period though. On one hand I don't want to lose some of the cool features (knock on, face tracking etc), but I suppose these can be supplemented by other apps. Ultimately it would mean it just becomes a faster version of my previous phone which isn't so exciting.

I'm also trying to find out if there isn't any faster/more stable ROM than CM - just that CM has some of the best support I've found so far. The one upside of flashing early I reckon is before any updates make rooting harder.

I do agree with you... What I am most excited for is to see if the Nexus 5 ROM can be ported to the G2 seeing as they are practically the same hardware with a different LCD panel.

Yup - I would love to have Vanilla Android if possible. Personally I would've likely. got a Nexus 5 if/when it came here but barring FNB it'd likely be a rip off, if the providers even stock it.

Software should be easy to sort out... Question is how are you coping with the rear buttons?

Right now wonderfully - double tap does it all for me (even though I've dropped on Nova Launcher, the status bar still catches double taps to sleep) - i seldom need to adjust my volumes anyhow but I'm quite happy with it. I quite like the lack of buttons actually.

That's good to know, going to upgrade in January and planning on getting the G2, was only concerned about the back buttons being weird...

TBH, it is a little odd to get used to, but so was a touch screen phone years ago. That said, after my MIL experiencing her phone volume always either at MAX or off, I reckon having them on the back might be better - no mistaken touches. Also if you wrap your hands around phone there's no risk of rocking them on the side.

Through which service provider did you get yours? And what is the model number?
