I upgraded. There were many crashes of home and android.process.acore. I rooted and tried CyanideL Rom but wasn't happy with the camera app and didn't want to lose the undo function in the email app. So decided to go back to stock Lollipop. Using Nova launcher to get past the home screen crashing and hoping android.process.acore behaves.

Go to lgg3root.com. Click the first topic. If you are on lollipop, there is a further link in the article that comes up for rooting in lollipop. Then you need cwm or twrp to boot to recovery to install ROMS etc.

Or XDA Dev, which is one of the best places on the net for that sort of thing for any device ever.

So, eventually I got the phone rooted and installed the latest version of Resurrection Remix. Been running it a few days now. This phone was good to start with but now it's just amazing. Battery life is so much better and it's stable with a ton of features. Pop me a pm if your interested in a little guidance.

So, after long overdue, here you go: (at least you know I've tested it well enough now!)
1) Download OneClick Root onto your PC and follow the steps listed on the post: https://www.oneclickroot.com/device/lg-g3/ or alternatively http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
Please just note: the phone must preferably be connected to the USB directly connected to the back of your motherboard-not an external port. I had great difficulty trying to root using a laptop but a PC worked 100%.

2) Install the https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=b007.autorecd855&hl=en app from the playstore that automatically installs TWRP recovery one your phone - this is necessary to gain the ability to install a custom ROM

3) Download the Ressurection Remix ROM from the official page as well as the relevant G-app .zip files and copy them to your phone. Then, boot into recovery (which would now be TWRP) (http://www.android.gs/enter-recovery-mode-lg-g3/) and flash the ROM first and then the G-apps
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/development-d855-resurrection-remix-5-0-t2968533

4) Boom enjoy a mind blowing refresh on an awesome phone.
Note that this voids your warranty and I do not take any responsibility for your actions. I've been rooting and installing custom ROMs for very long now so this all comes naturally by now. Let me know if you struggle.

It will be a long time. Even the yet to be released V10 is still on Lollypop. V10 is only getting MM Q1 2016.

Yesterday lunchtime I got a call from the office. We could not make it a minute and the call would drop. We tried quite a few times without success. Call just suddenly ends.

I put this down to a temp network issue and thought nothing if it.

About 14H00 I am travelling with my wife to our weekend destination and I receive a call from a contractor. Same problem.

My wife tells me she had the same problem with her G3 just before she upgraded.

Anyone know how to resolve this? Was going to factory reset, but thought I would check here first to see if there was a definite solution.

...I am going to try Cloudy G3 as recommended http://androidcure.com/best-custom-roms-for-lg-g3/. It's supposed to implement the G4 camera and UI.
That lasted about half a day. I cannot necessarily blame Cloudy G3, but I once I'd installed most of my software on Cloudy, I began to get multiple reboots, which ended up with bootloops on the LG screen that no amount of factory resets or flashing back to either KitKat or Lollipop stock ROMs could fix. I used LG update recovery to flash stock Lollipop and took it in (still bootlooping) under the 2-year warrantee. Sounds like they will replace the mainboard.

Here is something I posted on XDA.

For those of you with the same pathetic Battery life I had. (CellC....cough...cough)

So im an owner of the LG G3, fantastic phone besides for the pathetic battery life. coming from a S5 this was simply not acceptable, The S5 would easily last an entire day, I did not even have a charger at work since it was never needed. The G3 was losing 20% battery power per hour.

Yesterday i stumbled upon the thread, and the first thing i did was root the phone and changed the resolution. Wel that did not work out as planned, icons was all messed up so I uninstalled that.
After that i removed all unnecessary apps, This made no difference,
I then Installed Geenify, I still have it installed but i could not see a noticeable difference.
Then I removed the LG MLT + Mcafee, again I could not see a noticeable difference.

Then the thing i did which made a huge difference was switching my “Preferred Networks” to “WCDMA only”, Within 30min my phone was cold, It has not overheated since then. This might only be a theory, but I suspect this is the reason why some of us are getting bad battery life while others are getting great battery life. In South Africa as an example, my SP has very limited LTE, so the phone was constantly searching for LTE signal which is/was not available. The moment i changed it to WCDMA its no longer searching for LTE and only uses 3G.

Well, that’s my 5c worth.

3% over 3 hours :D

Aren't we using GSM? Why WCDMA?
Glad it solved your battery problem.

GSM/WCDMA/LTE – The phone can use 2G, 3G and LTE data communication and searches for the Best signal. (Still uses battery as it searches between the 3)

GSM/WCDMA – The phone can use both 2G and 3G data communication and when signal strength is low 3G is favored more. (Still uses battery as it searches between the 2)

GSM only – The phone use only 2G data communication. When the 2G signal is too low you get nothing.

WCDMA only – The phone use only 3G data communication. When the 3G signal is too low you get nothing

I've heard that MTN has enhanced voice when using 3G, so mtn users may want to weigh up the pro's of extra voice clarity and speed, vs standard audio, slower speed but better battery life - before restricting themselves to GSM only. If the other signals are weak anyway, then it would be a no-brainer of course.

The battery-life issue here is not actually a phone problem, but a network one.

they reloaded the software and told me I needed a new battery. I was surprised since the old one still had good life in it. Can a battery cause bootloops? I agreed to the new battery, but when I got the invoice saw the battery was only R240 while the assessment was R300. I demanded they withdraw the assessment as it fell within the LG warranty. They agreed. It made me think, was selling me the battery and trying to charge for checking, just a money-making ploy? I hope not, but it's nice to have a new battery anyway.
