Apparently Aquaman has been sold Link

As much as I would've liked him to stay, I'm glad we got rid of him in the end.

Deal should be confirmed shortly.

Allen rumours are gaining momentum now, looks like it could happen.

LFC confirm Aqua departure. Pity he never got a real proper chance to show what he could do... but ah well, this will open up more space for a couple other transfers it seems.

Liverpool Football Club can today confirm that Alberto Aquilani has completed a permanent transfer to Serie A side Fiorentina.

The Italian midfielder joined Liverpool in 2009 but made just 28 first-team appearances having spent the last two seasons on loan in his homeland.

Everyone at the club would like to wish Alberto all the best for the future.

Well 5 managers didn't seem to want him so, not sad to see him go.

Probably some sort of attitude problem, technically he is far better than the likes of Adam, Spearing and Henderson (at the mo).

Better than Spearing and Adam yes. Henderson is good, don't knock the lad yet :)

Yeah, hence at the mo ;). Think he has promise, not quite the natural attacking flair of a Gerrard, or the defensive nous of a Lucas; so probably best suited as midfield link man but he has got some development to do still. Apparently had a bit of a stinker last night, so that kind of inconsistencies need to be ironed out. But pretty much like the team and manager this season, will need to be given some time...

I wish people wouldn't compare young players to Gerrard. Gerrard is a once in a generation kind of a player, we won't see someone like that again for a while. Henderson has the qualities to make a very good midfielder for us, terrific engine, great first touch, isn't afraid to take the ball under pressure and some of his longer passing/through balls are fantastic. I think he will have a great season :)

It is inevitable that young English midfielders like Henderson or Shelvey will be touted as long-term replacements for Gerrard, even though as you rightly say it will be futile because it will be an unjust comparison. Guess its about having hope that another top quality midfielder will come through when Gerrard eventually retires...
