BR digging a hole for himself with his nonsensical selections and substitutions.

I know akes likes Ballo, but he was left on for much too long

Lovren may be something for the future but he needs to learn his craft in the cup games.

What seems to be a silly signing in Ballotelli is actually no more than BR being a stubborn idiot. The moment Ballo has a supporting poacher, he opens up the game for us by coming deep to pick up the ball in the final third. There is no sense in expecting a player play in a role he isn't comfortable with, especially when it is so easy to fix this particular issue.

I think Lovren is a decent defender provided he has a partner marshalling and organising the back line. We need a Carragher figure in defence and for now the best we have is Toure like it or not. As someone else pointed out you cannot have the CB's constantly going for the same ball, not covering the other, losing aerial challenges, being bullied off the ball, and worst of all not communicating. I have yet to see them shouting at each other the way Carragher would do to Skrtel. Even with the injury prone nature of Agger, it was one of THE worst decisions to sell him.

I also suspect that when Sturidge is fit BR will persist with the lone striker tactic and push Sturridge out wide and leave Ballo alone up front. The other issue is Lallana starting on the bench all the time, why make a huge purchase like that and then not play him? Surely BR wanted him for a reason, has he forgotten why? Every game I've seen Lallana looks energetic and hungry, yet he remains on the bench and used as a last minute throw of the dice.

After that long winded post my point is TACTICS, TACTICS, TACTICS!

How much chances did we create for Mario today? In not saying his above reproach but I'm just trying to be fair towards him.

He seems to be the outlet for the frustration. The problems are in abundance. Like someone just said, you chasing a game but bring on fsuckn Allen? Seriously? He decides to finally have 2 forwards but then immediately pulls off Mario? Hendo piss poor again but plays all game. Chelsea come right down the middle that first half. Multiple times. We have 3 players in that general area but don't have the ability to figure out just who is supposed to shield that back 4.

The biggest worry today was us trying to score an equalizer but not actually lifting our intensity, work rate, or desire. If I walked in without seeing the score I would have thought it was nil nil.

BR is struggling with the diminished coaching time. Can't prepare properly and it shows.

I don't think its a case of lack of time to plan properly, BR had extra time last season sure but at this level of football you cannot use this as an excuse for stubborness. If BR would actually mix it up and stop the 'playing out from back, pass out wide, back to midfield, back to the CB's' we might actually have more sympathy for him. I totally agree with you about Ballo being made a scapegoat, he cannot take shots if we do not create the opportunities. Yes he does miss some of the chances you'd expect him to score but again that's down to frustration and anxiety caused by lack of creativity from the team.

I was as shocked to see that the tempo and drive did not increase at all when Chelsea's second goal went in. The team persisted with the same play which was getting us nowhere.

He's being shown up as a second rate manager this season. A poor man's FSW. Only BR's words are biting him even harder than anything FSW ever said.

Have you guys forgotten BR's first season? It was exactly the same as this.

Nope, but if you play the wrong tactics and play players in the wrong positions and spend 120mil on youth and upcoming players instead of ready made players we will not be in this position that we in. What we needed is UCL experience and quality players in positions that we really lacked. Now you have too many youngsters and decent players, but not a mixture of both.

Not really, just thought we could add it to the list of silly things Brendan has said over the last few months.

Lol

Please enlighten me? Does that article seem snobbish to you? Oh and nowhere in the article did I read BR saying "I have no sympathy" or perhaps I missed.

Am irritated with BR at the moment. The team selection and tactics has been poor of late. Do I think he should be fired? Hell no. I have total faith he can turn it around. If not this season, then next season. I'm willing to wait. Doesn't mean I won't get annoyed with him when he does stupid things.

Right and how do we attract those kinds of players? - truth is, we still can't.

Although we can afford to buy players like Costa, Sanchez etc, they'd rather play in London for clubs that are well established in the UCL (also London is nicer to live in than Liverpool).

Really, you need me to point it out? That selling your perceived best players or player somehow means the club has lost ambition. Its even more ironic considering Liverpools current situation after selling Suarez.

Right but he definitely did say it

"Do I have any sympathy for Southampton? No, not at all," he said. "They have a choice. They don't have to sell. Maybe Southampton's objectives have changed.

Direct quote from BR for F1's perusement pleasure.

He also said something along the lines of "it's easy to coach defending" but then there is this gem...

The circle is where the Liverpool centrebacks were when we scored the first goal. I'll lay off BR for what he said last season...

next season.

The first half of his first season. Best form in the second half of that season.

Wasn't Suarez suspended for a bit in the first half of the season? Also, the second half of the season is when the bigger clubs start to fall off (except Fergie's United) due to having played so many competitions/not having a break. Liverpool didn't have this problem.
