us not buying a quality DM during the window was one of the biggest problems. we usually have 3 CM's in a game and none of them shield the backline. if he wants stevie to play it has to be further up the pitch. but then who plays in the middle? hendo/can/allen? none of them stay back during attacks though, exposing that backline time and time again.im inclined to put out the strongest defensive line - back 4 plus DM. the rest of the players attack and track runners.

an opponent cannot just stroll through the middle of our fsuckn midfield at will. gives me little strokes when i see this every game.

No Lucas?

Lucas will be playing as DM tonight I think. He doesn't offer much going forward, but defensively he is far better than Gerrard.

Ever since his injury Lucas has not been the same, it really destroyed his mobility which was one of his best attributes.

this right there. but lately he has been getting forward which is fsuckn irritating. obviously under orders. he needs to station. break up play, pass the ball. station. if he also goes 'marauding' forward then we might as well have one of the other non covering midfielders playing.

On current for, Gerrard should not be in the team. It's painful to say that, but it's the truth. I would want Can to become our DM. Our season is messed up already, might as well take the time to train him in that position. Allen and Hendo are fine where they are. Lallana should not play in central midfield, doesn't suit him.

My team for tonight if I could choose: Migs, Manq, Toure, Lovren, Moreno, Can, Hendo, Lallana, Markovic/Couts, Lambert, Borini. 4-4-2

can is far to attacking/skillfull to be demoted to a DM. allen is really shyte going forward so he would be my choice. I remember him coming in as a DM but I could be wrong. he gets forward in good positions but cant finish. we already have a good midfielder who does that and its hendo. so allen gets the nod. didn't llalana play through the center at Southampton? that pass to lambert on Saturday was ridiculous and from a central position.

and yes stevie has been horrible. on current form he should maybe get 1 year if that.

Lallana made the one great pass and that was it. For the rest of the game he was invisible....

to be fair. him and coutinho. if you told me that he will do that every game I would take it. but the stevie puzzle is affecting him also. we hamstrung at the moment.

sterling/coutinho/markovic/llalana out wide.
lucas/allen/toure as DCM.
ballo/lambert/Fabio/sturridge/stevie upfront.
hendo/can as CM

the attacking combo im not concerned about. its defensively that we need to improve desperately.

needless to say we need 4-4-2 since whatever we playing is not working.

I agree, Toure should be CB only. Sterling hasn't shown up and should be benched. He looks tired and should not be playing.

Toure DM? LOL. What the hell are you smoking?

He communicates well. He is mobile. He tackles well. He can read the game. His distribution is decent. He is able to run with the ball at his feet when he needs to break through the opposition line. Not sure what the problem is.

No one is talking or organizing. Toure brings that.

I dunno if I see him being mobile enough to shield the back 4 for 90 minutes while most of the other players try to move upfield.

For me that position is a problem. Permanent solution? Hell no. To plug a gap? Definitely. Not 90 minutes but a good portion of it. That midfield needs plugging and his an option.

Ah! Methinks I misread - I was seeing him in the back four providing a solid spine - one of those 'men' that Carragher referred to
