Understand where you coming from regarding the proper run, but how do you give people a proper run if they are not performing. To a point its the manager that is changing this around all the time, reminds me of Benitez days

For me, Liverpool never had a good defense since Rodgers has been in charge. We just had a structure, strikeforce that could score goals and outscore the opposition. The only thing that changed is that we are not scoring as much anymore.

Maybe someone can provide me with some in sight. We know that our goalkeeper and defense is the problem. Can't we get somebody in to assist with the issue at hand. When De Gea started at Utd he was nervous as hell, didn't command his area, but was a great shot stopper and doesn't that remind you of someone in the Liverpool squad ?

Letting DAgger and Reina go, is probably the biggest mistake. But they say hindsight is 20/20

Difference is DDG saves whilst Migolet erm flaps... DDG distribution is 10x better than Migolet.

I've said last season why does BR refuse to play DAgger is beyond me Skrtle was a liability and now his pair with Lovren...

Not saying that BR is right or wrong but, Reina wanted out and practically almost sold himself to Barca. Agger, as much as I enjoyed watching him play, and always thought he could be the best CB in the world, he was just too injury prone. Just when it looked like he was putting a run of games together, he would get injured.

Mignolet has his strengths, his shot stopping for one, but the thing that is starting to creep into my mind is whether his weaknesses outweigh his strengths. Ignoring his lack of form or confidence for the moment, he has never been good at distributing the ball, whether its short or long. He looks like he has lead in his feet or legs when he has to kick it. He does not command his area and for someone as big and imposing as he is, it does my mind everytime when he doesnt come for a ball he could easily collect and clear out anyone in his path.

Yes, the defence in front of him has been poor to say the least but as a defender, when you have the striker at your heels and you are holding him off and shielding the ball, you'd like your keeper to come off his line, take charge and collect the ball. It gives the defender the confidence that next time, he knows the keeper is able and willing to take charge and to sort it out in his area. Mignolet looks rooted to his line, he even seems reluctant to move out of his 6 yard area.

Skrtel is not a ball playing defender, neither is Toure and this is why I for one thought that the Sakho/Lovren partnership was the preferred one, why else would you spend over 30million on 2 defenders? Right? I have always thought that one CB should be good with the ball and the other is the one who sorts things out. I am not sure what we have at the moment but at least with Skrtel and Toure I know they both will give it 100% and they will not shirk away from a challenge, they might not win the challenge but they will have a go...

Down to the coach.

So why not change the coach ? Teams change managers more frequently than what they change there underwear, so why not change the coach ?

And wrt to Mignolet and commanding his territory. Steal/lure Utd's goalkeeper coach :D That guy has done wonders

Or buy another keeper, Mignolet needs competition.

Who would Liverpool get that is better? Precious little, especially at this time of the year.

De Gea has played under three different sets of coaching staff in the past three years. His ability is simply that.

Blossomed under Eric Steele. His shot stopping and distribution were always class, it was other things that coaching definitely helped with.

True. But most of it is down to ability and confidence. If he didn't have the mental fortitude to ride out the criticism, he would be another Mignolet.

Hmm, Carra was right.

I think the problem also is that most of the United fans knew we were buying potential, he was 20 at the time. So most of us waited it out, he had bulking and acclimatising to do.

I think with Mignolet, most LFC fans assumed they were getting a somewhat finished article.

It's honestly not just Migs that is too blame. It's all a vicious circle.

Migs struggles because the defence in front of him is useless, the defence struggles because migs is low on confidence and they don't know what he will do next, and the defence is at sea because the midfielders have not provided enough protection to the back four (although playing Lucas as DM instead of Gerrard has helped that quite a bit in the last two or three games).

Migs needs competition.

He doesn't get to choose it.

No wonder he looks so miserable most of the time. Thought they at least had an alternative to choose, especially for home games. The white kit from last season was a good luck charm of sorts.

@BassTunedToRed: .@KeithKehoe Another great performance by Lucas - most tackles (7), interceptions (6) and ball recoveries (12) by any player on either side.
