assuming its in relation to the news that Man Utd have agreed a deal in principle for Depay.

Oh, ah, so Depay would prefer to go work for his old boss LvG who shares a language and culture with him than with someone he doesn't know and we're surprised

Probably got same or better wages too

What a weird world...

I swear that most football fans have never worked for a corporate or other such professional organisation and don't realise just how important the 'soft' issues such as language, culture, whether your wife is happy with the move, etc actually is in making final decisions around where you go.

As as aside, this is one of the reasons why there are fans shouting for Rafa or that german bloke - 'cos they recognise that they can pull players that Rogers simply cannot.

Indeed. And this after PSV has confirmed that Depay held talks with Liverpool officials last month; and several papers reported LFC being in pole position.

Of course another BR beauty probably sealed the deal:

"The kid [Depay] is obviously a very talented player. It is clear we need a goal threat for next season. There are targets that have been identified as a priority. We will have to see if they are available. It would be for the players to decide whether we're an attractive club" - Brendan Rodgers, April 27.

'Manchester United have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven & Memphis Depay for the player's transfer, subject to a medical. Pending the successful completion of the medical, the deal will go through once the transfer window opens in June' - May 7.

Without sounding obnoxious or anything, United are just more attractive than Liverpool. We have a bigger global appeal, far more money and probably the CL. If United and Liverpool are after the same player United will probably get him 9/10 times, those are just the facts and yes it has nothing to do with Liverpool's transfer committee.

I dont think I would agree with you on the first 2 points... (attractive and global appeal).. I mean have you seen what LVG's nose looks like... LOL!!

But on a serious note.
United can offer much higher wages - See Falcoa on over R260k a week.
Can pay higher fees - See Di Maria
Can offer CL
LVG
And united can splash 20million on a player and not feel the effects if he flops, LFC just dont have that kind of spending power.

Don't have that kind of spending power?

100million and best you got was second place - even thou the coach said 100m should win you a title?

As someone else said, the coach does say far too much.
Many also forget that we had a very small squad last year, most of the spend was to increase the numbers in the squad, admittedly the quality of the signings could have been better but that may have meant less players coming in, particularly in positions that needed additional players.

And yes, spending power. As an example, fellaini cost united 27 million I think it was. Would you have batted an eyelid if he left at the end of last season? I doubt it. Liverpool cant afford such failures in the market.

there is so much dead weight in our squad, its depressing :/

These players are whom I'd get rid off or expect to be gone

Mannquillo
Johnson
Enrique
Flanno
Wisdom
Toure

Lucas - I love him but his injuries have ruined him, won't be surprised to see him go (50-50 chance)
Ballo
Borini
Lambert
Sterling ( god knows, if he will be around but I'm expecting him to leave based on his contract saga)
Aspas
Luis Alberto

sweet jesus, Coates is still on our books :wtf: completely forgot about him

Btw, what's happened to Illori? He looked a fantastic signing I haven't seen or heard much since?

Been out on loan, apparently did well.
I was probably one of a handful, but I really liked Luis Alberto, another player I thought BR didnt give a proper chance.

I've also been wondering, how effective do you think Pascoe is as our Assistant Manager? I honestly don't see much in him but its hard to judge without knowing background info.

I would keep flannagan and wisdom as they are still young and developing. Flan was good hen he played and wisdom needs to mature.
Lucas I would keep as a squad player and Sterling is 50/50.

The owners should get rid of BR and bring in Koeman or Klopp. They can attract players with their experience in Europe. BR fails in all departments, man management, transfers, tactics and formations.

We should definitely by Benteke even if we need to spend £30m. United spend almost £30m on a player that is young and still need to prove himself. Looks like another Marcovich if you ask me.
